Speakers for Rega system Does Rega not make a suitable speaker ? Their speakers are generally well reviewed in the UK, and one would expect that they would work well with their own electronics. I haven't heard them .. just thought I'd suggest it.My other thought is, must ...
Solid State amp with wide soundstage Perhaps add a sub for low end slam ... ACI or REL. Both can be had under $1000. A high powered (100+), detailed solid state amp for under $1000 is a difficult find. You might get power, or fidelity, but probably not both at that price.
I need your expert advise You did not mention what you feel is missing with your current system, just what you are looking for.In my experience even an inexpensive ($500) CD Player will suffice for all relatively inexpensive systems (Without knowing what you would like to ...
WANT tukans to do the disapearing thing??? I'd say a little further from the back wall (3 feet), and a bit closer together (6ft) ... how far from the plane of the speakers do you sit ? I've found an equilateral triangle works well. Toe in helps mostly if there are side walls present, but a...
Best "Used" Audiophile speakers for 1000-1500 spica tc-50 with stands on sale here at agon ...http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.pl?spkrmoni&1017518259Then supplement with a quality sub from REL or ACI.Not the only option ... but for a total of $1500 would sound pretty damn good. Imaging,...
I need to be wowed agree with bishopwill. Correctly placed $1k speakers can image far, far better than poorly placed $5k speakers.See these two links for hints :http://www.cardas.com/insights/roomsetup.htmlhttp://www.audiophysic.de/produkte/aufstellung/aufstellung_e...
I need to be wowed Hi again Allegro12,If you spend a few hours with the spendor and dunlavy dealer then take along at least one large scale CD and ask to demo a subwoofer .... I think spendor has a sub specifically designed to work with their monitors. This will giv...
I need to be wowed I'd suggest a BBC monitor (they come in various sizes and prices) from Spendor or Harbeth. Not fatiguing, lovely tone. If you want big scale music to sound big scale then add a subwoofer ... REL (I own) or ACI seem to be the frontrunners. In my ex...
Speakers for small listening room Hi Pete, unlike many others here I would suggest that you first spend plenty of time experimenting with position of the speakers and only buy new speakers if this really doesn't help. My listening room is only 10x12 and I use a Cardas speaker place...
Under 1k integrated recomendations Cyrus makes a bunch of different integrateds. Cyrus 3with PSX power supply should be within $1000 used.Audiolab 8000S would go quite well.Densen B100 (I own) is a great little amp, slightly lesspowerful than the previous two, but perhaps a bit mor...
Power cords You are in series with a bunch of wire back to the source. You're also in parallel with a bunch of other home electronics.Whether power cords make any difference I haven't bothered to find out, since I'm a died in the wool skeptic.I'm interested t...
Best used amp for around 500 audiolab 8000s or 8000a if you require phono stage. These are clinical amps ... maybe good with warm speakers.Cyrus 2 or 3 with PSX power supply (a must).I saw some audiolabs on this site recently ... you cannot go wrong with these amps.
Component with most effect on soundstage/imaging? The room and speaker positioning. If that is not correct all the equipment in the world will not help. Not having a head cold helps quite a bit too !
What is stopping the ultimate? Another vote for Albert. Audiophiles often go on and on about the importance of the source, but the true source is sat at a mixing desk twiddling knobs and adding effects to make the music sound good in the car, on a boombox, on a walkman .... but...
Re thinking my system; where to start? Creek makes a passive preamp with remote. I forget it's model number, but at around $200 it might be worth a demo since it's pretty cheap so you don't have much to lose. They often come up used on Audiogon, too. The other thing that comes to mind ... |
