Improve sound - 67SE bypass DC1?
How about one of the Monarchy DACs with a volume control ... I think the 22C is the good one. I have an old old 22A attached to my 67SE and it's a substantial improvement. However, as I said in the other thread the improvement is only realized wit...
Speaker placement at dealers
Jeff .. that's nice to hear. I think I would be a disastrous HiFi salesman, because I believe that you don't have to spend very much ($5K) but you have to spend it on the right things, and then pay great care to setup. BTW I'm in Fremont, not so f...
Speaker placement at dealers
If the dealers were honest they'd ask where you are able to place them at home before letting you listen to ANYTHING. If you answered that the speakers have to be placed against a wall then an honest dealer would have to recommend that you save yo...
Opinions of Creek Integrated 5350se
A couple of amps "with balls" that might satisfy your bass desire (these are obscure brit amps that IMHO are much better than creek or NAD):1) Hard to find Cyrus2/3 with external PSX power supply. You must have the external power supply to get eno...
Improve the sound of my CD Player?
A Monarchy DIP jitter reducer improved the sound of my CD67, which is driving a monarchy DAC. I think that the CD67 digital out is NOT good quality, and the CD67 is inherently a high jitter player. However check if the Lexicon does data reclocking...
Ever Have One Of Those Evenings?
Hey Zaikesman ... perhaps if you short out and fry your power amp then the supreme court will overrule the 2000 election results and award the presidency to the party with the most votes. Go on .. it's worth a try.
The plight of SACD....
Jadem6 ... I hope you're right, but the biggest difference between SACD and redbook CD is that the consumer DOES NOT WANT SACD. It has no benefits and several drawbacks. For the average consumer rebook CD was a giant step forward compared to LPs.I...
Best imaging stand mounted speakers?
Thanks Beemerrider. I'd have thought in that price range you'd have to consider the AudioPhysic Steps. Not that I have heard them, but I have read glowing testimony to their imaging ability, and they're from the same company as the Virgo. Another ...
It's the small things that drive you nuts...
Sean .... I think you need to get out a bit more, and spend a little less time with your hifi. :-)
Best imaging stand mounted speakers?
You gave no price range ... if cost is a concern then a good pair of used Spica Tc-60s might be just the ticket. About $450 used inc stands.I expect that you're aware that to image well the speakers must be quite well out into the room, at least 2...
Need an integrated for sensitive speakers - Help
How about a Naim Nait ... low power output but very musical.
The plight of SACD....
It's sad but true that most people are not interested or even aware of true hifi sound. That being the case I cannot see SACD ever shedding its niche status, and no amount of letters to Sony will change this, because Sony is a corporation and corp...
What of your gross annual income is your system?
About 5% ... yikes what a scrooge ! Add in my vinyl and CDs and it's about 10%. Never mind the low cost I still love it, and I love even more that it's completely paid for and debt-free.
Burn in time...Reality or something else???
Aaaarrrggghhhhhhhh ..... not again. I think I'm gettting "burned out" on all these burn in threads.Do a search of the archives there's a recent, very good, thread on exactly this issue.
why do power cords make a difference with transpor
Thanks Sean ... I think that there's merit in the ideas in your post, and the ideas in my post. I guess my previous post suggested that noise FROM the transport was the dominant effect, and that's a bit too sweeping. However I have an old transpor...
