Anybody else wanna pull their hair out ?
Hifiho ( GOTTA luv the name...), i'm talking about taking everything out of the rack, wiping down the components and rack, re-installing all of the components, cleaning all of the jacks and cables, routing all of the audio and video cables into th...
The partner or wife factor
I agree, this is a good thread and we all seem to have a lot in common with this one. While my girlfriend has "raised hell" many times about all of the gear (she calls it a "cluster") i have all over the place, she loves listening to music and is ...

You can contact Bob at the following email address:rcrump@houston.rr.comHope this helps. Sean>
mods for Adcom GFP-750
Don't get me wrong, many mods are FOOLISH at best. Some are not cost effective and in many cases, actually degrade the performance of the unit. There there are the "cosmetic" upgrades, such as swapping one brand of gold plated copper binding posts...
Need Help with System
Dan, don't worry about negative votes. Post your honest opinion and let them learn to deal with it. It's not your problem, it's theirs. You'll get over the "shock" of seeing negatives REAL quick if you continue to post on this forum. Sean>
Capacitance: Help me understand
I have interconnects that will COMPLETELY change the soundstage and tonal balance due to their high capacitance design. Mids are slightly distant and sunken, highs are smoother with less splash, bass is slightly elevated which adds warmth, etc... ...
Shure V-15vmr VS V-15 III
Try looking at www.canadianastatic.com for any stylus needs. The best source that i've found. Some are OEM, some are aftermarket. All of them are satisfaction guaranteed either way. NOBODY will touch their prices. Sean>
Speaker Mounting and Placement
Very nice little speakers in my opinion. I've never tried bookshelf mounting, so i can't offer any advice. I figured that you wouldn't mind a "pat on the back" and a "congratulations on your choice" though : ) Sean>
Building dedicted listening room
I would agree with the others in terms of doing a LOT of reading BEFORE you start doing your building. Right off the bat, i would think that having a room measurement of 14' one way would not work well when another measurement is 21'. You would be...
mods for Adcom GFP-750
As someone that makes their living by "modding" electronic components, i would COMPLETELY disagree with Sd's comments. Manufacturers build their products to meet specific specifications and price points. Keep in mind that adding one dollar to prod...
Power cords to the same outlet
There is a handy little device that Rat Shack sells under part number 22-101 and is called a "circuit tester". It looks like a standard three prong male power plug but has a little chart on top of it and three LED's sticking out of the back end. Y...
Out of Control
I've never heard a Pass designed amp that had "killer bass". Nonetheless, most of them sound phenomenal from about 200 - 300 Hz and up. Soft yet still fully articulate and loaded with detail. Combine this wih "air", a deep and wide soundstage and ...
Parasound vs. Bryston
Rx, i beg to differ. Mr Curl flatly stated that changing two resistors in the amp would take it several steps higher in performance. I have also been told this first-hand from his business partner, Bob Crump of CTC. Bob takes the standard Parasoun...
Techno Anyone?
If you want to watch the eyeballs bug out of salespeople's socket's and see just how fast that they can sprint to the volume control, try playing a few cuts of off the last disc by Master entitled "Faith is in Season". Make sure that you tell them...
DTS or Dolby Digital?
DTS uses appr 1/4 as much compression as Dolby Digital. As such, it should sound much better, more natural and have greater impact or "slam" if the rest of the system is up to the challenge. In my opinion, there is no comparison between DTS and AC...
