Have you ever sniffed your AC ???
Myraj, that should be no problem. I'll have to wait till tomorrow or Thursday though. Sorry for the delay, but i've got a long list of requests : ) For those that are interested, here's another interesting article written by David Magnan that some...
Have you ever sniffed your AC ???
Albert: I was using these prior to borrowing the Noise Sniffer myself. Using the Sniffer simply woke me up to how effective they really are. You can literally hear first hand how dirty your AC is and how much cleaner it is with the Quiet Lines. It...
Have you ever sniffed your AC ???
Greg, i can't see these doing anything to limit current supply to the equipment since they work in parallel to the line going to the gear. There is nothing in series with the component draw, so i can't see it affecting ANYTHING with the components...
Spades or bananas
I think that a good set of locking banana's are a good alternative to spades. I've got a few sets of cables with locking WBT banana's and have GREAT confidence in the quality of connection that they make. Prior to using these, i had large reservat...
Speaker cables and their frequency responses
Ernie, i too have experienced this with various cables. I think a LOT of this has to do with specific cable / component interfaces. While the sonic traits of a specific cable seem pretty consistent, i've heard them do a "chameleon" and change thei...
zobal networks ?
Out of curiosity, what wattage rating were used on the resistors for the various units ? Did you "zobel" all of the drivers, just the mids or woofers, etc ??? Sean>
LeAmp from Norh?
Thanks for filling me in on that Doug. Unfortunately, i missed that part of their "battle". With all of the different forums, reviews, websites, etc... it can get a bit overwhelming at times. I do find that kind of strange though as he Brian was r...
need help-how to build sound absorber, deffusive
I agree with Tom on every count except for making Jon's bass traps. They really aren't that difficult. A well balanced room is no different than a well balanced system. You can't concentrate on one aspect and neglect all of the others hoping that ...
Speaker cables and their frequency responses
I have TONS of different cables within the multiple systems that i'm running. As a general rule, i try to keep both the IC's and speaker cables as short as possible within reason. Many of my IC's are "homebrew". Some of the "commercial" models are...
Sound Absorbing Material
I too would second The F. Alton Everest books that Tom mentioned. Keep in mind that most "absorbers" are not linear in their frequency response. As such, it is VERY easy to end up with a system that sounds dull and flat due to a lack of high frequ...
need help-how to build sound absorber, deffusive
Not only is placement critical when using bass traps, size and construction definetely come into play. The bigger that you can make them and the better that you can seal the "center chamber", the better it will work for lower frequencies. You migh...
LeAmp from Norh?
There was a BIG debate about this amp on AA a few weeks back. I remember John Curl and Brian Cheney challenged their published power ratings after doing some measurements on a unit. Sean>
Best speakers for my system/taste/budget?
See if you can find some Castle Richmond's on the used market. Very full bodied little English monitors that can be had for about $350. There was an Audiogon dealer that had these if i remember correctly. Sean>
Speaker length vs. I/C length
So long as a system has:1) rock solid connections at all points that are cleaned on a somewhat regular basis2) cable that does not saturate under load ( i.e. too small of a gauge ) 3) cable that doesn't introduces any type of series resistance to ...
Anyone else have a ...
The best solution is to build a product like a tank, sell only to those people that are careful when making connections and know how to operate their gear and NOT install ANY fuses in the gear other than maybe for the mains. I have a couple of amp...
