TV & computer monitor all in one
Computer monitors typically have better resolution than TV's. Why that is, i have no idea. As such, if one wanted to invest in a large enough computer monitor, the resolution would be more limited by the video source than the actual viewing screen...
Problems with Parasound AVC 1800
Eugene, are you feeding the AVC 1800 the signal from your CD / DVD player via a digital coaxial cable ? Sean>
Bryston 7B ST - Sounds anaemic. Any help?
Pbb, you forget that i make my living working on electronic gear taking hundreds of measurements on a daily basis. As such, i'm not just talking as an "avid audiophile" discussing "fantasy situations" and associated explanations. There are PLENTY ...
To DAC or not to DAC
Not to bad-mouth the Dio, but i know of a few people that have had less optimum results than what Tim has stated. Obviously, this has to do with system synergy, personal preference, what mods were done and what parts were used, etc... As to trying...
Pioneer TX 9500 tuner/ Comments?
Jimmy, i've had a TX-9500 for as long as i can remember. It is a very sensitive tuner and if properly aligned, capable of pulling in stations that other tuners just dream about. I've been able to hear stations with very reasonable stereo seperatio...
Bryston 7B ST - Sounds anaemic. Any help?
After having said the above, is the 4B higher gain than the 7B ? If so, you would be experiencing less bass output for the same amount of drive that the 4B used to give you. This could come across as less "oomph" or a slightly lean tonal balance. ...
Bryston 7B ST - Sounds anaemic. Any help?
Take a look at the thread below. As to Pbb's comments, how is sharing experience and commenting on the experience of others ( even in published glossies ) "undermining" a company ? If what you say is true, devotees of Bose can lay claim to the sam...
CDR Burning compatibility with DVD players
I have what used to be Sony's top of the line DVD player ( back in the stone ages ). It will not read CD-R's. However, i do know that my business partners Philips that is even older will read CD-R's with no problems. As Justdan stated though, his ...
Wanteds..
I typically check them once every other day or so. I do this not because i'm looking to sell someone gear that i have, but sometimes to see what is desired or if i can point someone to a piece that i saw for sale somewhere else.
Tuner website on Geocities ???
The tuner website is back up with quite a few updates and additions. Sean>
What is the advantage of ultra bandwidth?
Robert, i think that Bear touched base on that subject. Going "mega-bandwidth" CAN open up a whole new can of worms if your not careful. On the other hand, one of the gentleman that was first responsible for "super-fast, wide-bandwidth" designs ( ...
Opinions on Marsh P2000 preamp?
My initial results were very similar to Bob's i.e. the P2000 was very mellow and warm, really laid back mids with a slight amount of "tizziness" to the extreme top end. It was so laid back in fact that music seemed slower, lacked pace, etc... The ...
Which Processor: Sunfire or Bryston?
Bookner, Sunfire is releasing the Theater Grand III at the end of this month. You might want to hold off on any purchases until you can find out the specifics. To those that are TG II owners and want to know about the factory upgrades, Sunfire has...
Legacy Whisper-- Opininions
The bass has a very different presentation than what most people are used to. This is typically the dividing line as to whether or not people love them or hate them. Obviously, a speaker of this size will require a good sized room and a reasonable...
Aren't passive radiators out of phase?
Ports, slots or any other type of bass reflex design with a "hole" in it allow out of phase information to leak out of the box. The output from the port that is "in phase" is only very near the region of tuning. Stuffed transmission lines also do ...
