Rectifying bridge.
No problem Herman. Feel free to kick me in the seat of the pants ( only as needed though ) : ) Sean>
Digital Front End.. help please
CEC is a "house brand" for a MAJOR electronics manufacturer that has been around for many, many years. They build products to spec for other companies and Parasound is one of them. You may also remember Kyocera products from the 1980's. This was a...
Rectifying bridge.
I agree with everything that Herman had to say other than bridges ( which are four diodes in a specific arrangement ) ARE rated for various voltage and current levels. Like anything else, one should always allow a reasonable amount of headroom if ...
using a transformer to separate your gear power
Kind of funny that you bring this up, as I was discussing this with a local shop today. Your dealer is talking about an isolation transformer and he is right on the money. There are a couple of different designs for isolation transformers though w...
Review: Marantz 7t Preamplifier
I've picked up a 7T a while back to see how it would mate with my original Marantz 8. I've never gotten around to hooking it up yet. My curiosity is getting the best of me now, so i'll have to give it a try. As you mentioned though, i'm sure that ...
What about the ultimate home theater????
Sfstereo: Thanks for the clarification on pricing. While i was not sure how much all of that gear cost, i was thinking that it was well beyond the price that Charles "guesstimated". With an investment like that, they should at least throw in a pop...
Electrostatic speaker cables...
Bear, i kinda figured that they were relatively high capacitance based on the physical description and geometry that AudioEngr previously provided, but i was not sure. As to posting a plug for your own cables, i don't see a problem with that. That...

V, how do we claim our free wanted ad ? I have tried to post one but i keep getting an "insert coupon now" displayed on my monitor. I never received my coupon and don't know where to insert the coupon at ??? Can you tell me where i get the coupon ...

Greg, how can you get "extra" credit when you didn't even submit a test ? Are you one of those "class clowns" that sits in the back, makes crude comments, does not turn in any of the assignments and then expects to pass class ? I know i was : ) Se...
Big Difference With New Source?
Yes, Tim is right. While i had initial problems with my first EVS DAC and ended up returning it, it was a hard thing for me to do. I really liked this piece but the low level hum / buzz that i had in the system with it was annoying once i noticed ...
Speaker ohm's?????
All SS amps should show measurable increase as impedance is dropped. Theoretically, they should all "double down" in power output as impedance is halved i.e. 50 wpc @ 8, 100 wpc @ 4 and 200 wpc @ 2, etc.... Even though many "hi-end" amps are rated...
Older vs newer with comapinies like CAT & AI??
Given a good basic design to start off with, it is quite possible to take an older piece and upgrade / replace passive parts ( resistors, capacitors, diodes, etc... ) and smoke the newer gear by a measurable amount. Not only has inflation set into...
A fun idea for Audiogon
Good idea. Not only would it be fun to compare notes with other members and see where we fit into the grander scheme of things as both individuals and a group, A-gon can sell the non-specific results to interested parties that do market research. ...

hey "teach", what kind of apples do you like ? Can i stay after school and clean the chalkboards and erasers for extra credit ? : ) Sean>
Big Difference With New Source?
My experience with digital front ends is probably similar to a few others out there. I had started off with a cheap CD player many, many moons ago. Over the years, i had changed players. Sometimes out of wanting something new, sometimes out of hav...
