Transports & DAC's ?
The only thing i can add to your post is that the Adcom GCD-750 does not have any type of digital output. It does offer digital inputs so that one could use the Adcom's internal dac's with an external digital source, but no way to use the Adcom st...
Try this simple DIY interconnect cable.
Twl: I agree with what you are saying, but in the long run, almost all cables / cable designs are plagiarized from someone / something down the line. As far as i know, the first person to build cables using similar design philosophy to what you ar...
Power cord? Why?
Eldartford: I don't know of any manufacturer that publishes specific spec's on power cords. That does not mean that some of us haven't taken the time to take readings on various cables / designs and compiled our own little notebooks. Some of us do...
Rock Music: 1951-1976 vs. 1977-2003
UncleJeff: I think that there are many people that would agree with you, but possibly in a different way. From my point of view, what was good and innovative in the 60's and early 70's began to stagnate. As such, many of the "youth" began to rebel...
Thank You, to the Person Who Helped You the Most.
I would like to say "THANK YOU" to my Father. If it was not for his love of music and audio electronics, i would have had a completely different outlook on life. It was through him that i became interested in both audio as a means to reproduce and...
Genetic differences in turntable design.
Twl: Judging all suspended tables on your experience with the Linn's is like saying that all Chevy 'Vette's suck because you used to own a Chevette. Both are "Vette's" and are even made by the same company, but there is a BIG difference in both de...
Golden Tube amps
I'll basically repeat what was previously said i.e. good sound, horrid reliability. As far as having a tube amp fixed, unless it uses some type of OEM ( Original Equipment Manufacturer ) type of transformer or odd-ball part, that shouldn't be a bi...
What is best center speaker?
Russ 1: I agree that the lack of a center speaker CAN work better in many systems. This will depend on the mains being used, how far apart they are, the seated listening distance, if everybody is sitting in the "sweet spot", how the source is reco...
Power cord? Why?
Corona: While reducing the surface area where the connections mate will reduce the total current capacity of the cable, the blades that go into the wall and the IEC will melt before the "limited" current capacity of Eldartford's method comes into ...
Rock Music: 1951-1976 vs. 1977-2003
Jafox: You hit it on the head. If i was stuck listening to only "rock" music from those years, i wouldn't be all that upset. Most newer music, at least what gets commercial airplay ( and that's not saying much ) is extremely repetitive and lacking...
What is best center speaker?
Ksales: I agree that this "shouldn't" be happening, but we don't know all of the variables involved. The system could be severely out of calibration with the center being relied upon to provide the majority of information, the room may be VERY lar...
Power cord? Why?
El: I'd be curious as to the specific capacitive and inductive measurements that you get with such a cable. Is it possible to either post these specs or forward them to me via email if you have the means to do so ? Sean>
What is best center speaker?
Nick: You can't expect a relatively low efficiency speaker using two small drivers to do low bass and play loudly and do it cleanly. As such, you have to accept that there will be trade-offs with such a design and either limit the volume and / or ...
Power cord? Why?
When you said "stacked", this made me think of three pieces of zip cord standing side by side in a row i.e. "hot / hot / hot" stacked on top of "neutral / neutral / neutral" and then twisted. By staggering the conductors, i meant exactly what you ...
Power cord? Why?
I would have staggered the conductors and then twisted it. Oh well, i'm still curious to see how this comes out. Sean>
