Do you remember your first cd?
First cd was Jimi Hendrix - Live at Winterland. I did'nt even had a cd player then, so I had to wait for my parents to leave so I could play it on their stereo. How the time shave changed..... It still sounds reasonable, and the music is of the fi...
What are the Best Sounding FM Tuners
Best thing I heard was an Onkyo 9090 mkII tuner, with a very impressive looking aerial. In fact, the aerial looked so impressive, I wonder how it will sound without the tuner....:)
Our we Lazy?
I own a tube pre (Musical Fidelity X-pre with X-PSU and RCA instead of the original Philips tubes) and a selfmade SS power amp, 25 watts class A per channel. I chose these because they sounded best with my speakers & room. If I ran into a bett...
New DAC or player?
Thanx guys, opinion seems to be a bit divided between a DAC and a new player. I don't know what I'm gonna do yet, I'll just check out the secondhand market and see what'll come my way. And Poetcallus, I wouldn't mind owning the Sony, I always like...
Anyone try center backs this way???????........
I've done this in a 5.1 setup, and it is nice with non-directional sounds (rain, traffic etc.), but it sounds pretty weird with voices, so I changed it back.
NAD 317 trouble HELP
Had a 317 for years, and never did something like that, so can't really help you. But you could try to separate the pre and power amp, at least you'll know in which amplifier stage the fault is. Maybe someone else can take it from there?
Mission 761i Speakers
Here are PDF-manuals and spec-sheets for (discontinued) Mission speakers. Hopes this helps....http://www.mission.co.uk/index1.htm
What do I purchase an Analog or a Digital tuner
Why not go for a hybrid? I know Sony makes a tuner able to receive both digital and analogue broadcasts. It may not be as good as the Magnum, but it sure is futureproof, and probably cheaper brandnew than a used Magnum....It's the Sony ST-SDB900.
Thorens TF295 mkIII
Hi Paul, I don't know that particular Thorens from experience, but I always liked the Brand, having owned a couple. You've probably already checked their site, if not, here's the link: http://www.thorens.ch/THORENS/thorens.main.php?id=en_201&r...
Best looking / worst looking amps & preamps
Interesting, to see a very old thread come to live again...... Anyway, the prettiest pre IMHO is the Musical Fidelity X-pre, especially with it's separate X-psu power supply. Heee, what a coincidence, I own both! And the ugliest amp would be my ho...
Thorens TD 125 vs. new cheap TT?
No prob. Could you tell if it works out? I have a Thorens 125 as well, with a SME 3009 arm attached, but the bearings on the SME are loose, so I'm thinking about replacing it with a Rega RB300 or something similar. I'm just not sure if that's a go...
Efficency- Low vs. Hi?
Not to pick on you Dave, but I wouldn't consider the Cambridge being low powered at 65 watts. My amp delivers 2 x 25 watts......
Help my speakers are farting,,,,
On a serious note: could be that your AC is polluted, and if the fridge turns on, it can cause noise in your amps. Same goes for lighting. On the other hand, there might be something wrong in your preamp, so listen if it occurs when the preamp is ...
Thorens TD 125 vs. new cheap TT?
Wise decision. Just curious: what arm is attached on it?
any suggestion for a narrow mini receiver
The Musical Fidelity X-series are great, but not that cheap, and it's not made anymore, so you have to settle for secondhand. I think, reconsidering this threat, I would go for the Teac Reference series, since it's pretty good, and you can buy new...
