I need help diagnosing a sibilant problem on vinyl
Not enough VTF (tracking force) and/or too much/not enough anti skate could be the culprit. Do you have a VTF gauge?
Stylus Rake Angle
Csontos, This is easy to test for yourself. Just check your overhang after you change SRA. I've done this many times and you might be surprised how much it moves. The only instance it wont change is if you started out with tail up and then changed...
Stylus Rake Angle
Csontos, I don't think so but you could say the same thing about SRA as well. What percentage of 1 degree of SRA is adjusted for with fine VTA adjustment?
Stylus Rake Angle
Don_c55, I think what most people are adjusting for with fine VTA adjustment is actually proper overhang. Adjusting VTA will change overhang slightly. IME overhang adjustments make more difference than SRA adjustments. This is just a theory and I ...
Stylus Rake Angle
I think 92 degrees SRA as a starting point is better than just setting the arm to level and having no idea what the SRA is. Adjust for best sound after that. You should get more consistent results adjusting between various different carts by start...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi Raul, I actually have 3 AT150ANV's now.;) You're right it is not the best tracker but it is the clearest sounding cart I have heard. To my ears it is less colored than most MC's or MM's I've heard. As for the Soundsmith rebuild I went for a leve...
Lyra Kleos: tracking force/VTA/azimuth questions
Stops, It's 92 degrees for SRA not VTA. SRA (stylus rake angle) is what needs to be adjusted for. Your method is not going to work for SRA because styli are not all mounted exactly the same angle on all cantilevers. Another variable is the suspens...
VTF, VTA, SRA, and 92 degrees - question
Dinster, you could try putting a 2mm shim on the back of the cartridge between the headshell and cart. This will angle the back of the cart down and get you much closer to 92 degrees. I have a little brass shim for this purpose and it works well. ...
Music server install: internet over electric lines
What makes running the coax line for your cable modem not possible in that room? Cable company's have rules their employees have to follow. When I was installing cable we where not allowed to wall fish cable at all. We could only run it from outsi...
Stillpoints Ultra SS feet fit VPI Classic 3?
I tried the Ultra SS under my VPI Classic 1 when I had it. They are tall enough to work. The only thing that hangs down under the Classic 1 is the bearing nut in the middle. Not sure if you need more clearance on the Classic 3. I did not try to th...
Hegel h200 low level listening
Check out Fletcher-Munson curves on the web. If you plan on listening at low levels most of the time then it makes sense to buy speakers that have a boosted bass and treble. This will make them sound better at low levels but not at realistic SPL's...
Will high SPL subwoofers damage planar speakers?
Audiooracle, you hear something at a show so that makes you an expert on it? Wow you must be good!
Will high SPL subwoofers damage planar speakers?
As far as the sub damaging the panels I doubt it. Many people have had Quads paired with subs before. Hopefully they can chime in.
Will high SPL subwoofers damage planar speakers?
Audiooracle, Wrong. Innersounds and Sanders Sound can play that loud without distorting as long as the amp is up to the challenge. Martin Logan Summit's can play pretty loud as well but since I don't own them I'm not sure exactly how loud.Quad's o...
