Thales Simplicity tonearm review in Stereophile. Here is a foreign review that is easy to read. http://www.audiotechnique.com/reference/thales/355_thales_tonarm_eng.pdfIt has some better pictures. I have to say I agree with MF about the setup jig not being ideal.
Which component is most responsible? Your system is only as good as the weakest link. You are the weakest link! Goodbye!!!Sometimes the owner is the weakest link. :o)
Thales Simplicity tonearm review in Stereophile. Lewm, I hope you are correct about the Schroder LT, as I will have one soon. I was interested in the Thales arms in the past until I found out they will not fit on my TT. Even so the subject of tonearms interests me. Especially linear tracking arm...
Thales Simplicity tonearm review in Stereophile. For those who have not read the article here are the issues that Fremer brought up about the arm. The best I could do in my own words anyway. First, the setup jig and instructions were confusing for him and he broke the first cartridge he tried to...
Thales Simplicity tonearm review in Stereophile. Whoops. Meant to type exception, not except. I could not edit my own post for some reason. Even though no one had posted to it yet.
Audia flight protection mode I would return it to the dealer, and let him figure it out. Only other thing to try is to check the fuses inside, but I would try to get the dealers input first.
New Schroeder linear tonearm, any thoughts? Halcro. You are right, it's not necessarily a deal breaker. That said there is really no doubt in my mind that fewer connections are better, but often there are reasons it is not practical. It's usually not a night and day difference in most cases...
Stylus force digital scales If you don't want to mess around with modifying a scale as Doug suggests, then pick up a Cartridge Man scale. It's spendy, but is designed well and is rechargeable.Although, I may be inclined to try Doug's excellent idea if my Cartridge Man scale ...
New Schroeder linear tonearm, any thoughts? The Phantom is not a true unipivot. It has the Magnaglide stabilizer. I don't have much experience with a MM on a unipivot arm. So I can not confirm, nor deny whether that is a factor. Could be though.
New Schroeder linear tonearm, any thoughts? Halcro, it is interesting that the Phantom did not do well with MM cart's. I have read that before. IMO, you can not make any solid conclusions about wiring, without testing it out on the same tonearm. Otherwise the differences you hear, or don't ...
Cartridge Skips Beginning of Record Effischer, is right. Having a non adjustable tonearm lift is very limiting. With the Denon 103's spherical stylus it won't be that big of a deal, but with a cartridge that has a more advanced stylus profile it could be a problem.
New Schroeder linear tonearm, any thoughts? Halcro, are you saying you can't hear the difference between your tonearms using the same cartridge on them? Or are you saying that you do not think the differences you hear are related to tonearm wiring?I think the only way to answer the question...
New Schroeder linear tonearm, any thoughts? Of course in the case of the Schröder LT there will be no overhang or underhang, unless the setup is off.
New Schroeder linear tonearm, any thoughts? Interchangeable head shells only save you a couple of minutes unless you don't care about perfect setup of each cartridge. You still have to readjust everything, including overhang. As soon as you change the SRA and VTF for the new cart/headshell ...
Cartridge Skips Beginning of Record Glad you solved the problem. Not sure how you came up with 8.5 hz for resonance on that combo. Unless you have a custom high mass body on the Denon. Best case I could come up with was just over 12 hz to 13.8 hz depending on whether you multiply th... |
