Single most effective electronic room treatment? The Tact has the capability to control room reflections and "flatten" response. The down side is that one must be patient and learn how to modify the "curves" to best advantage. Most of the unhappy users I have read about want to plug and play. Th...
ARC with CJ? CJ amps have 100K input to accommodate tube preamps. Any preamp therefore should work if the gain is reasonable. My experience, however, has been that CJ preamps have excessive gain when used with CJ amps. Go figure.
Quicksilver amp owners I also had the KT88 monos. I agree with the above, however, with Quad esl 63'sthey were an excellent match. Still, subs were desirable (and difficult).
Acoustat, 121-2a can they be cut down Since the 2+2's generally sell faster and for more money than the shorter side by side configurations, you might post them for trade here and ask for paid shipping.
5.1 vs 7.1 My screen is on the short wall and the extra speakers keep the sides from being "dark". Even though the signal is the same for the sides and the rear, my receiver has time delay settings for all channels.
How many hours did your projector lamp last? I have a Sanyo Z5 which I watch most days. The lamp has 2900 hours on the clock. It is in a dark room, so I use the second lowest setting of the 4 choices (A2).
First Trip outside of Best Buy, a real newbie. You owe it to yourself to hear a set of Quads. New or used. They may very well not be for you, but for a lot of very good reasons they have set the standard for clear reproduction for a half century.enjoy
Is a VTL ST-150 enough? David Manley made his amps switchable to triode because, given a reasonable load, he thought they served the music better. If speakers sound better in tetrode than triode, I suggest that they would sound still better with a good solid state amplif...
Is a VTL ST-150 enough? Triode amplification is addictive, but the price is less power out of the amp. I had several triode amps, including a set of VTL 185 monos which sounded about as you describe (in triode), and on a variety of speakers. In Tetrode there was lots of ...
Wall Hugging w/Imaging & Depth? If you use a Tact you can use almost any dynamic speaker against the wall. Check their website.
digital eq/room correction trade-offs re:LYNGDORF: Goal is to preserve the speaker's frequency response & remove only room effects. You measure the drivers up close and then at the listening position. The software filters the difference between predicted (anechoic?) response at th...
Looking to Modify a Quicksilver Linestage Tubes, caps, and low noise resistors. Or for the same money upgrade to a better unit. The upside of modification is the fun and making the choices. The downside is that the modified unit is likely to be worth less and be more difficult to sell to ...
digital eq/room correction trade-offs TacT versus Lyngdorf. Good question, especially as they were recently partners in the same company (Tact). My tech says that Tact (Baz) tries to accomplish more correction parameters than Lyngdorf with the result that the Tact system is more diffic...
digital eq/room correction trade-offs "I'm not convinced that I wouldn't just be winging it with these new systems. Not to mention the problems introduced with additional jitter as the signal gets switched back and forth from digital to analog to digital to analog." I wish I could say...
digital eq/room correction trade-offs If you listen to CD, digital is a given, as is the processing of same prior to conversion to analog. Digital equalization degrades nothing and is of considerable benefit in adapting speakers to a specific environment. The straight wire with gain f... |
