Which Amp for ML Ascent i? Have you had a chance to listen to the Aragon line of amps. I just heard them the other night. They sounded fantastic. 200 watts for about $1500. Not bad.
which integrated?... Stay away from the Pathos. Atleast in my opinion. I've read and heard that the Unison is a great integrated. Anthem makes one as well.
Best subwoofer match for Meadowlark Swifts? I have heard the Buggtussel and while it is great, it may be a little over powering for the small swifts. The Buggtussel needs to be mated with full range speakers in my opinion. I agree the REL might be a good choice.
Thoughts on Paradigm Studio 60's? I agree that the 60's are great speakers. And that one day is not near enough for break in. I've owned several different pairs of paradigms and I would venture to guess they need over 200 hours before they really start to sound like themselves. Ul...
Are B&W 805 sig the best imaging monitors ? To answer the question of the post, I would say there are better. Not from experience, just guessing. I would bet the Dynaudio Special 25 has a few advantages over the Sig 805 in the imaging department. For the money, I wouldn't think any monitor ...
what's my problem? I guess there are a couple things you could try. First, I'm not sure how much you have experimented with speaker placement. Any chance you could pull them out farther into the room? Second, I've found out recently that cable plays a bigger role in...
Monitors $1,000 to $2,000? The Monitor 10's are killer. I loved them with my audio refinement integrated. Don't forget to look at Revel M20's in the used market.
newbie seeks direction I wont' be of much help on the DAC, but I can comment on going from monitors to Martin Logans. I was convinced I couldn't get better imaging in my price range than with a monitor speaker. Very recently I had the Revel M20's that imaged very well. ...
Amplifier Dilemma If your virtual system listed is the one you currently use, I would probably suggest a different amplifier and perhaps experiment with speaker placement. That can make a huge difference with maggies, especially distance from the back wall. One int...
Creek 5350 SE and Maggies Unless you listen loud, I would think you'll like the sound of the 12's with the creek. I heard the creek for just a short time at a maggie dealer. He seemed to think they would do just fine with a 5350 SE. Probably one of the best sounding integr...
Need help choosing new speakers I think you'll be surprised at what will happen if you pull the N805's out of the system and replaced them with some revel M20's. Completely different, and I think better, sound. Otherwise, have you listened to the N804's?
integrated amp question There are a lot of suggestions in the range you are asking about. Maggies like power, so I would start with the Plinius 8200. I would think that would be the best for your system. There is always Creek 5350 SE, but I don't think that would be quit...
Help to pick redbook player Another one to consider, which I really enjoy is the Linn Mimik II. Those can be had for 500-600 dollars.
speaker sensitivity vs. speaker size A perfect example of this would be a pair of Revel M20's against a pair of B&W N803's. I had experience with this this past weekend. The Revels are far more inefficient than the 803's. The 803's are far larger in size and have double the amoun...
Best high current SS Mono amps I second the Levinson suggestion. The 33H would power just about anything I think. If you can afford more, why not look into the Halcro DM58. |
