Monitors for Sim integrated
While I'm not saying you should jump on the 805's, your comment of them reminded me of something. I bought a new pair of 805S when they first came out and had the same response as you. No bass, and aggressive tweeter. All this after owning two pai...
DIY speaker enclosure, maybe TL?
I agree with Duke. You can't really design the cabinet until you know the parameters of the driver. You question would get must more response over at www.htguide.com/forum. Look at the Mission Possible section.
Spare change on a speaker cabinet
This has been around for a long, long time. Check the archives.
speaker/amp combo for 1300?
Of course there is a weakness to an amplifier that listed for $1000 and can be had on the used market for 500. It doesn't have the high end sparkle, it's not extremely powerful, and it can sound, at times, too warm. But, for the price and the powe...
Very small bookshelf speakers / system
I gotta agree with Beheme. Why would anyone care about someone over 75 years old........insert sarcasm here...

speaker/amp combo for 1300?
Tvad, I traded many times trying to find an integrated amp I liked better in that price range. Tubes, solid state, and hybrid and just kept going back to the audio refinement. I have one now and plan to keep it when I upgrade.
b&w? in a bright room???
I've heard both soft dome and hard dome tweeters sound terrible. Likewise I've heard them both sound great. Don't base your decision on the material of the dome.
speaker/amp combo for 1300?
One of my absolute favorite systems in that price range is the Audio Refinement complete with B&W CDM 1NT's. A fantastic set up when I had it. I still own the audio refinement (this is my fifth one) although don't own the B&W's anymore. Ju...
Has anyone heard of this?
Aside from the business points that Mcfarland gives, let's look at this simply from an idea stand point. You rent these rooms, what about the people that bring their own inappropriate material into the space. Are you going to control that? What hap...
Buying HiFi at credit, anyone?
Dave Ramsey has a radio show that talks about becoming debt free. He believes that credit cards should be outlawed. Dave is different than some in that he has a serious spending problem (similar to an alcoholic). He can't trust himself to use a cr...
Buying HiFi at credit, anyone?
Everyone is different with a different set of opinions/values. I've bought audio on 12 month interest free. I didn't have 3500 bucks at one time. But, I had the monthly payments no problem. It was paid off, I was happy, no big deal. I use credit c...
Geometry in audio.

Anyone have any input on JM Lab Cobalt 816S
My experience was with the 806S. While I didn't find them as bright as Tawaundabomb talks about, they were a little on the bright side. (maybe the 816 is different)I think for the money there is better out there.
Hi-Fi Lingo and What we should be listening for
Nuetrality doesn't always lend itself to being enjoyable to listen to. The goal isn't always the most accurate reproduction possible. The goal (for me) is the most accurate *while* being the most enjoyable to listen to. Otherwise, why would I sit ...
