Harbeth Super HL5 plus Break-in
Yes, like any other loudspeakers they need time to break-in. Give the speakers 200 to 300 hours before they start loosening up as music will flow more freely from the speakers, sounding more unforced. The amplifier plays a huge role with the Harbe...
Why so many Plinius for sale lately
Wow, an almost 20 year old thread resurrected from the dead. I used to own the SA-100 Mk3 and did find the treble to be a little shut-in and lacking in air, and the midrange lacking in separation and the overall sound too warm and thick, contribut...
Upgrading form Pass integrated amplifier to a better one
Denon. I need your advice. I am looking at the Pass Int-60 to match my Marten Duke 2 speakers. Does the Pass have a refined and warmish tube-like glow in the treble and midrange whilst retaining the finer detail and nuance in music? I need somethi...
Very small room! Help me with monitor speakers
Harbeth P3ESR if you can give the speakers some space from the wall behind. Proac Tablette 10 Signature if the speakers need to be placed against the wall (or very close to the wall).
Subwoofer Recommendation for Harbeth SHL5+
I am not a fan of using subwoofers with main speakers especially if it is a Harbeth Super HL5 Plus. I prefer running the speakers full range. I did try running a PMC sub with the Harbeth and it didn’t work. The sub is mostly unused and occasionall...
The Harbeth phenomenon
It's good, the Harbeth. I attempted to dislodge it with another high end speaker Marten from Sweden but failed in the process of doing so. I ended up keeping both. It's good for life, the Harbeth.
Harbeth 40.2
There's a reason that 40.2's don't often show up on the used market. Once you buy them you never want to get rid of them. This applies to the Super HL5+ and M30.2 as well or perhaps any other Harbeth speaker. My SHL5+ aren't going anywhere althou...
Calling Marten Duke 2 Owners - Do You Fill The Speaker Stands?
Thanks for the responses. I’ve tapped on the stands with a flick of my fingers. It didn’t ring too much but the sound is hollow. Will get some sand used for sandblasting to fill the pillars very soon. Can’t do anything at the moment with the lockd...
Proac Tablette - which version is best at imaging?
Having owned the Proac Tablette 50 Signature for a short period about 13 years ago if not more, I would be more inclined to go with the latest Tablette 10 or 10 Signature which I read is very good and balanced when used in small rooms. The sole re...
Naim Audio system owners - What speakers are you using with Naim?
I have NAC 282, Hicap DR, NAP 250DR with Harbeth Super HL5+ and Marten Duke 2. I also use NAC 202 and NAP 200 driving Dali Mentor Menuet in the second system.
Marten Duke 2 anyone own or heard these?
Toddnkaya, yes I just had a look at Mike's system. It's surely out of this world.
Marten Duke 2 anyone own or heard these?
Marten Dukes used as rear speakers in Home Theater. The main speakers must be something extraordinary :-)
Marten Duke 2 anyone own or heard these?
I’m 5 years late to the party. The Marten Duke 2 is surely some of the best sounding speakers I have ever heard in this price range. I would agree that they should incredibly smooth at the top without any hint of grain and harshness. The treble is...
Focal Electra 1008 be 2 and Marten Duke 2 monitors
Late to the party. The Marten Duke 2 is one of the smoothest and most musical speakers I’ve ever heard. The tonality is very good and treble is astonishingly smooth without showing any hint of grain or harshness. For a speaker this calibre, I am s...
Spendor SA1 vs Harbeth P3ESR
Harbeth. The fit and finish is better too.
