problem with thorens 320mkIII Sounds like the tonearm needs to turned toward the center of the record. Loosen the hold down screws just enough to twist the arm until it reaches the end of the record. Either that or something is binding underneath.

DVD Regions - Any Workaround? You can buy the mod from one of the websites that I gave you and do it yourself or send it to them and let them do it.
need help on a subwoofer cable? Use the RCA input on the sub. If it doesn't have one, you go from the speaker jacks on the receiver to the speaker in jacks on the sub and from the speaker out jacks on the sub to your speakers.
What's better: RCA or XLR? While it is usually best to have a fully balanced system I did get rid of a hum problem that I had with my amp by putting XLR's on the amp end of my interconnects and leaving RCA's on the preamp end. I eventually added XLR outputs to my preamp. Ev...
Opinions on McIntosh MR7083 Tuner From what I have been reading about tuners lately, the Mac tuners are no where near as good as the 78 and 80 and even some of the earlier models. They just can't afford to build them like they used to. The best tuners are still the ones built in t...
phono preamp capacitor upgrades?? Power supply electrolytics can lose their ability to hold a charge over a period of time, especially if your equipment is not used for a long period of time. They will probably last about ten years or so. They can be reconditioned but it's usually...
DVD Regions - Any Workaround? Most warranties are only 90 days anyway for labor. But if you buy one that is factory converted like mine you don't have to worry about it. The Sampo is a very low end player and only cost me 149.00 but it does have a full one year warranty on par...
What's better: RCA or XLR? There is a reason that pro sound and recording studios run balanced. But, I guess the main thing is less noise and signal loss with long interconnect runs. Another reason in pro sound is the ability to hook cables together when longer runs are nee...
DVD Regions - Any Workaround? There are many companies that sell and modify DVD players and some mods are as simple as just flashing the EPROM with a CDR. I have an inexpensive Sampo codefree PAL/NTSC player because there are a lot of DVD music videos that aren't available in ...
Hissing sound from right speaker There are no tubes in the system are there?
What's better: RCA or XLR? Balanced is better because you lower the noise floor and get 6db's of gain and usually cancels out any hum that your system may have. Most high quality cable already has the negative conductor inside and you can just add the XLR's yourself.
Turntable help Please It won't hurt to try it, you may be pleasently surprised. You may want to try it with a fairly inexpensive cartridge like a Shure or Grado. Then you could get a good inexpensive phono stage like a Rotel or Nad. Then if you decide you like analog, ... |
