Step-up Transformer, what's lost? The problem with most step up transformers is the the bass gets softer. And in my experience, a low output moving coil is better sounding than most high output models. It is best to get a preamp that has enough gain in the phono stage or get a lin...

DVD-A, DVD-V music where to purchase? dvdplanet.com has most titles for a little over 13.00. Be prepared to be disapointed in the sound of some and delighted at the sound of others. Bare Bones by Wishbone Ash and Working Man's Dead by Grateful Dead are very good.
A Little Hypocrisy? The main reasons that CD's are expensive is greed, pirating and money losing acts. The record companies are trying to make up for the money they lost on vinyl while they pay their execs millions even if the company loses money. Then, they blame th...
Burning a CD Believe it or not, the CDR's that I've had the most trouble with are the more expensive ones such as TDK and Maxell.

Does the amp wattage make a big difference? The advantage is that you will have more power by using one amp per side. You have twice the power supply. But, I am not sure how to make it work with your setup.
Does the amp wattage make a big difference? Use one amp on one speaker and send one channel to the midrange and tweeter and the other to the woofer. do the same for the other speaker. If your preamp has only one pair of outputs you will have to use Y cables. Make sure of course to use one a...
Does the amp wattage make a big difference? You could get another VT-100 and do a verticle bi-amping scheme for less money than selling your amp and getting the 200. Also you could check with Audio Research about converting the 100's to mono.
Can 2 preamps go to one amp? You can't hook up two preamps to an amp without an A-B switch. The preamp will take the path of least resistance and feedback into the other preamp. You should be able to find a high quality A-B switch, maybe even and automatic one. |
