If a model is no longer current, it can be sold to anyone I would think. 
HT bypass vs Tape Out
You want to use an input that is not controlled by the volume control. This is what an HT bypass does. You can use a regular input but you will have two volume controls in line.

Longer Power Cords Sound better?
I held an 8' and 5' power cord up to my ear and I thought they both sounded the same. I guess I'm not an audiophile.

Denon charges 300.00 for the upgrade. And I don't think you can get 2300.00 for them but you might.

78 Spinnin' - Cartridge?
Shure's 78 cartridge can be had for not a lot of dough. I'm not sure exactly what I paid for mine but it wasn't much. Shure also makes a 78 stylus that will fit their other cartridges. 
Krall's Look of Love soundstage more to the left
I find on many recordings in most systems the sound is skewed slightly to the left. Other people have noticed this as well.

The show is a conglomeration of records, CDs, DVDs, and memorabilia and some BS too. It costs 3.00 to get in. It's fun to go and hang out or in if you prefer.
