DVD-RAM better than Hard Disk? I agree to a certain extent as nothing is crash proof. Even DVD-RAM discs can fail. I have many DVD copies that no longer play well. But, Blu-Ray with 50gig of storage space should be even better.
Buy DVDR now or let standards/technology settle? A computer with the correct video card will accept over the air antenna signals and let you record them. And they will also record over the air hi-def signals. They will also download the program guide free. The only downside is you need high spee...
How to expand of line inputs? An outboard DAC with more than one input would alleviate your problem. You can also get an A/V switcher. I have one made by Sima that has digital and analog switching. It also has signal sensing and remote control. Of course, anytime you add a swi...
Second Chance offer Scams on ebay? While some can be scams, I have a friend that sells on ebay for other people and often has multiple items that he will offer to the second highest bidder to keep from having to list them.
What is IR blaster? As long as the device you are recording with has a TV tuner built in you won't need an IR blaster. An IR blaster will turn on your cable box, sat reciever etc and change it to the right channel for recording.
Buy DVDR now or let standards/technology settle? How about a cable box with DVR? Or you can order a Sony computer with Blu-Ray. Computers are a much better way to burn DVDs.

How long do tweeters last? They shouldn't wear out. They just may not sound as good as newer models.
Two preamps connected to one amp? You could connect the CD player to the tube pre and go out of the tube pres tape out into the Mac therefore bypassing the volume control of the tube preamp. I don't know of an a/b switch that has balanced and RCA ins and outs but I'm sure one is a...
Newbie..TT question Make sure you are using the correct type of phono stage for the cartridge you are using. A moving coil preamp with a moving magnet cartridge will have too much gain. Also, if you are using an outboard phono stage, don't use the phono input on your...
Newbie..TT question Are you using a phono stage or input?
Next on the list for Mahler.... I have Horenstein Mahler #3 on CD/Unicorn . A fine performance indeed.
out of phase Inverted phase is not the same as out of phase. Out of phase would imply that the left and right channels have different phases. In the world of recorded music there is very little that is correct phase.
Two preamps connected to one amp? You should not do it without an A/B switch. You will probably damage the preamp that is not powered on. |
