Levinson 20.5 monos - Time for a Refurb?
I agree with Beemer. Unless it can be improved with some updating, it should be fine.
Drive one nuts???
Use headphones.
popping noise when switching tv channels
You are losing the digital lock when you change stations. Using the analog setting will prevent this but you will lose Dolby Digital. Your processor may have a software update that will prevent the popping.
Who makes switch-box for balance inputs?
You can also try Jensen.
dCS stack with ML Descent
The DAC has a volume control on the front and on the remote.
Moody Blues "Question of bal." CD or SACD vs Vinyl
Which MoFi are you talking about? I have several and none sound that good. I have compared them to the vinyl and the vinyl is much better. Not so with the SACDs I have. I have not listened to them in surround.

What source are you having trouble with? Remember you have two volume controls in the system. You can use the dCS stack as a preamp and bypass the 2200. If you are using a DVD, SACD or DVDA player, you need to set the surround for two channel mixd...

Drrdiamond, Bigger soundstage-music spreads out way past my speakers and some even comes from the sides of the room without the use of a surround system. This is especially true with Days of Future Past.

I have the original British and German vinyl pressings and the SACD versions are much better.
Automatic Man?????
I put the album on CDR years before it was available on CD and it sounds great.
Any Audiophile recording of The Planets?
I like the Manfred Mann version also.
Reference 3A Decapo "i" sounds shrilly
Not likely, since they were designed around SETs. I sincerely doubt that is the problem. Now we know why they sound bad.

Maybe they need more power or current than your amp can deliver.
