Does Anyone Buy Schiit for the Sake of Schiit? You can make a very satisfying music system without using expensive audio gear. The Schitt line of products are popular, affordable, and of sufficient quality to satisfy a lot of people. IMHO.
Intergrated Amp suggestions for B&W 805d4 Musical Fidelity M6si. Match that with some AudioQuest Type 4 speaker cables and Kimber PBJ interconnects and you'll be near perfection. Or if you have the means, get a MF NuVista Integrated.
When a speaker does not sound right, how do you know which part is wrong? Put your ear next to the tweeter, 95% chance the tweeter is blown...50% of the time.
Bogen DB 10A Series A113 & Bogen DB 10A Series E64 ...NEED HELP If those are what I am thinking they are, that is 1950s stuff. Pretty much anything can be wrong with them if they have not been rebuilt. BTW, we blew up my Dad's Bogen using it as a guitar amp.
Speakers for string Quartets What do you have now and budget please.
Dared MC-7P Preamp Replacement/Upgrade My SLP-98 is never going anywhere, it sounds just the way I like my gear to sound. Musical, dynamic, and sweet when the music calls for it. I have never heard a Dared but execution is more important than design type.
Cassette decks. How good can it get? Mainly it's the background noise more than anything... Cassettes fail on the frequency extremes, not good for critical listening but good enough for just rocking some tunes.
Warm but holographic & forward vocals. Triangle.
System bottleneck? Currently I own a flagship Aurender W20SE streamer and it is a bargain at $22K. I can buy a lot of CDs for that kind of bread and it's always in my possession, just saying.
Dared MC-7P Preamp Replacement/Upgrade Cary SLP98 is very good or you might try the Schitt Freya+ on the budget side.
1st Tube amp question Depends on the amp but you should have the speakers hooked up on most.
Discoloration on back of Martin Logan Quest speakers Probably dust from the panels being energized. You can clean the panels and other areas without too much work. For areas other than the panels a dish rag with warm water will do it.
Tube Amp question:TUBE replacements: explain MATCHED? groups of 4 with very similar responses. Nice to have but not required. The Rocket 88 requires (per manual) electrically and brand matched tubes. Some amps require this and some amps don't.
Ohm Walsh Talls (opinions sought) Originals sold prior via stores were not as refined. The new OHMs are not the old OHM Fs that mijostyn might be referring to.
System bottleneck? russ69 the signature se’s have pretty good bass response. Actually, I'd recommend a set of woofer towers (or vertical sub array). You would have a near Infinity type RS1B at that point. Very powerful, and miles of depth. |
