Subwoofer connection XLR vs RCA
No need to change, you will get no benefit from the XLR.
Need replacement lights for power amp meters
I like no lights. Much better for listening in the dark.
Mid range planar magnetics
Infinity used to.
Bi-Amping: How can I determine relative output?
@erik_squires Oh shoot I was thinking about the way I do it with an outboard crossover. You are right.
Bi-Amping: How can I determine relative output?
@erik_squires  Voltage out does not equal SPL out. You may get the amps giving the same output but differences in driver efficiency will make the SPL different.
Help. System sounds thin and bright or harsh
I'm going to say the Harbeths are just not cutting it. Small two way speakers seldom do (unless you like a lean sound). You need a bigger 3 way to get the warm midrange you are looking for.
Class D with high efficiency speakers
I would certainly try it. It might make for a good match.

One of the amps will need to have a gain adjustment. You'll need a sound level meter of some kind if you want an accurate adjustment. I tune my woofer towers by ear but YMMV.
Audiphile Press: Am I jaded, experienced, or has it declined?
If the creative juices are still flowing, how about one ala Charles Bukowski. How about John Blutarsky?

The game changed. Old publications were more active in a consumer reports sort of style. That has changed to a full on equipment promotion supplement.
Amps
It's a waste of lifespan and energy.
Whats the ultimate goal with your pre amp ?
There are no top end systems that don't use a quality preamp. It's very important.
can you please help me around how to use my first tube amp?
Why would the person need a multi meter when the amp comes with one built into the chassis and has markings for optimal bias? For his future amp purchase?  Everybody needs a multimeter, unless you think a light bulb change needs a service call ...
Coaxials - Reality vs. Experience?
@russ69 Did you really start this thread with a "times moved on" argument against coaxials and then admitted to using Ohm Walsh’s, a design from the early 1970s? lol I was really thinking about my Dad's coax driver from the mid sixties 😁....I'm...
