Why Do So Many Audiophiles Reject Blind Testing Of Audio Components?
"...playing it to me would still be useless as my reference is my own system..."Exactly. Playing an unknown system in an unknown environment with unknown source material is a total waste of time.
Speaker arrangement terminology
"...The second is the number of subs..."It’s the number of discrete LFE channels, see below. I had to think about this (ouch). I think the point one, point two etc., is used in home theater systems with a LFE outputs. A limited frequency band outp...
Do no harm to a signal! Does this mean.....
"...BTW it’s cable not wire... Words Count..."That would depend on the construction of the "cable".  A pair of un-wound wires or ribbons would not be cables.
Adjusting the sonic fingerprint of a system.
"...Steakster has it right, otherwise adjusting gain should not change the sound at all..."Agree. Amps somewhere along their output level show the least distortion so one might conclude that is the point they will sound their best but I have not b...
PP amp + High sensivity speakers dilemma
Just pad down your pre-amp interconnects with an coaxial attenuator.
Emission Labs Tube Warranty Problems
I read their warranty claim information. It pretty much says you only get coverage if you jump through all the right hoops at the right time using the right equipment during a blue moon. They don't want to honor their warranty or they would have.
Do no harm to a signal! Does this mean.....
"...Have a set of headphones hooked up..."It’s the interaction of cables to the amplifiers (amps in source, preamp, loudspeakers, and amp) that make a difference, headphones won’t do it, except to test headphone cables.
Math + Logic + Science = something completely mad...
"...Even when the amp has isolation feet on it and the speakers are sitting on a concrete floor, which is the ultimate vibration sink?..."The amp designer has done what they can do to reduce airborne microphonics (chassis resonances) but mechanica...

ABX testing. Brought to you by the New Coke and the Bose 901.
Do no harm to a signal! Does this mean.....
"...Isnt this the reason for paying up for cables cause, its so hard to limit signal damage?..."Audio cables are deliberately designed to change the sound we hear. Common measurements are conductivity, capacitance, impedance, and resistance. Audio ...
A few questions about the "Helix Image Interconnects"
Well Jeff from Brooklyn, I'll give it to you straight. It's your design, you will have to tell us how it works out. Even something that seems like a simple design can have complex interactions and mechanical issues. Look at the stuff when you get ...
Bolting speaker with stand
"...KEF telling me to remove the rubber feet sounds having this issue sounds like it is a workaround..."Or the correct way to mount them....
Why Do So Many Audiophiles Reject Blind Testing Of Audio Components?
My systems have the right loudspeakers, placed perfectly into the room, run by the right amp, with the right source and material. But it takes time to get this right. Change anything and you might be back to square one. Sometimes a few weeks of tr...

"...and they use blind tests almost exclusively for taste. Pepsi Challenge anyone ..."Blind testing is how we got that total failure of "The New Coke".EDIT: And the Bose 901.
What is an audiophile? Are you an audiophile?
There are audiophiles then there are pompous jerks, sometimes they are the same person.
