Food for thought/Opinions please Well, there is no doubt that there are perhaps many more competing entertainment interests than there were 200 years ago. However, I would maintain that the selection of recordings and new releases remains absolutely staggering. And I'm not just t...
Line Condition /Pwr Protection on Mono Block amps? I'd be interested to hear other's opinion on amps with the Hydra. I have my Pass Labs x600s plugged into a Hydra-8 with Elrod Statement cords all around. I found the dynamics and detail to be improved overall, so I kept them that way. The sound wa...
GNSC Wadia Statement Mods/Heard Them? Rja,Have you first maximized the benefit with power cords, a power conditioner, optical cables, and a proper stand? Those things each can add a very dramatic benefit, plus you won't be without your CD player while it is being upgraded. I cannot co...
Comparing Wadia vs. Meitner Cenline,Have you heard the Elrod Statement on the Wadia? I found the improvement to be not subtle. I do not have any experience with virtual dynamics.Rob
Comparing Wadia vs. Meitner OK, so you want me to compare the Meitner to the Wadia? I think that is a fair question. After all, this forum is really here so that we could discuss different equipment and rely on others experience and opinion of this stuff. After all, not all ...
Comparing Wadia vs. Meitner Frank,The adjectives of 'blah', 'lifeless', and 'dull' are desparaging. I agree with the rest of the post, and personally don't care which terms you choose. I am merely suggesting that if you care to attach such blanket terms to a piece of equipme...
Comparing Wadia vs. Meitner Frank, your experience and comments are appreciated. I couldn't say if you have a golden ear, but you certainly have a golden stereo. That kind of rig could sustain a man through several divorces. I am sure it sounds great. However, perhaps you ar...
Thiel 6 versus 7.2 Dc2daylight,Why stop there? What about surrounding yourself in the center of 7.2s with a radius of 12 feet from the speakers to your listening chair. I figure you could do this with the Thiels spaced on the circumference about 5 feet apart. You co...
Thiel 6 versus 7.2 I haven't heard the 6. I jumped on a dealer demo pair of 7.2s from my previous 2.3s. The deal was too good to be true. For me, staying with Thiel made sense, and I agree that they are one of the best valued speakers at any of their price points. I...
Thiel 7.2: amps suggestions please Pass Labs x600 is about one of the best deals going on the used market, is virtually indestructable, is made by a top-notch company, and drives the 7.2s effortlessly. Compare the price of the Pass monoblocks with the Krell monoblocks, and for me t...
Meitner EMM DAC6e Redbook Performance The first part of the showdown will occur in a week. We've been waiting for the Meitner transport to come and have some hours put on it. Stay tuned.Rob
What high-end cdp for low-end quality CD's ? It is a myth that a good CD player will make bad CDs sound badder. I have CDs of bootleg recordings from the 1920s. They sound (relatively) fine. I also have alot of CDs from the '60s on forward. If you have a system that highlights the high-end o...
Pass Labs X-1000 monoblocks 1000 watt monoblocks? That's silly talk.
EMM Labs on Bad Redbook A dissenting view from the above posts. I don't have the Meitner CDP, but I think that an excellent CDP will make poor recordings sound better than a poor CDP. I listen to some classical music recorded in the 30's through the 70's, and it all soun...
Classical music recordings upgrade I concur with Barenboim's set on Teldec with the Staatskapelle. Absolutely amazing from 1-9 interpretively and sonically. The orchestra sounds great to boot. |
