RIP: Paul W. Klipsch Truly one of the giants of the golden age...sorry to hear that sad news.
My Theater Glad to hear your reaction to the Thiel Powerpoints. I have Thiel 2.3s and an MCS1 center channel, and would love to add the Powerpoints someday.
How many dedicated circuits to run HT/2ch system.. Keep in mind, it's alot easier (and cheaper!) to run an extra dedicated line or two now than to add one later. If you're still at the rough-in stage, go big early! Ask the electrician to run 10 gauge wire for the amps.
My Theater Do you mean to say "FP" instead of RP? Since you're using a Greyhawk, I assume you have a front projection set up. I'm lusting after the Sharp myself, but may have to settle for the Plus Piano for now.
Ceiling Panel Recommendations Keep in mind, the radiation pattern from the speaker is a wave, not a laser beam. Even if the speaker is pointed down, there will be diffraction from the front of the cabinet that reflects off the ceiling.
Ceiling Panel Recommendations Check the manufacturer's website...they might provide a graph showing absorbtion as a function of frequency.Have you thought about putting some diffusers on the ceiling to handle the first reflection from the center channel?
Experience with Thiel 1.6 Robertd - the important thing is that you made a purchase that YOU are hapopy with. If it's compelling you to want to listen to music all day, it's a good purchase!
Best Upgrade for 1,000- for my system I can heartily endorse the PS300....one of the best upgrades I ever made! It's $1000 well spent, and it will make all your future upgrades sound better, too. Be sure to get the multiwave option...it makes a significant difference.
Experience with Thiel 1.6 Spons - I listened to CS1.5s for three years, then bought a pair of 2.3s. They are both analytical speakers, but I wouldn't call either one "bright". What kind of amp are you using, and what sort of music are you listening to?
Theta dealers in the Washington DC area? Since it appears the response from Soundworks is directed at me, I'll give my side of things.I have no doubt that audio retailers fight a constant battle with internet dealers who undercut prices, and people who buy from these dealers probably hau...
Theta dealers in the Washington DC area? My experience at Soundworks about four years ago was about what the posts on audioasylum describe. The thing that floored me was that they flat refused to let me do an in-home demo. I was in the market for a HT processor, and was considering the E...
Multi-channel amp questions Rotel is another manufacturer to consider...good solid amps and exceptionally good value. The RMB-1075 is prettily highly regarded as a 120x5 amp, and it retails for $1200, so you should be able to pick one up used for well under a grand.
Multi-channel amp questions You may want to look at manufacturers like Bryston that make a variety of multi-channel amps (2,3, and 5 channel). That allows some flexibility and expansion options. I own a Bryston 9B ST (and love it), but may eventually add a 4B ST toi have som...
Running CD-Player Directly from Amp Resolution Audio CD-50 and CD-55 players both have variable analog outputs (balanced and unbalanced), and both are available used for less than $2k. I run a CD-55 directly into my Bryston power amp with excellent results.
dedicated curcuit question???? Krelldog - don't skimp on the whisky...a good single malt can lower your noise floor up to 5 dB! |
