What was the best vintage LP you have ever found and why was it so? RCA LSC-2436 - Respighi: Pines of Rome/Fountains of Rome - Chicago Symphony cond. by Solti. I have a 1s/1s copy, which is exceedingly rare - Canfield's 2000 edition cites NM value at $750.00.I paid $10.00 for my copy which I found several years ...
Best mat for a Rega Planar 3? Anton - I use the Grungebuster, which was recommended for the P9 ceramic platter. As for glass platters, you can contact Herbies for recommendations (when they reopen post virus). I also used a cork mat on an old Linn table, but can't remember wh...
Best mat for a Rega Planar 3? I have two Rega P9's and ditched the felt mats, which caused static and served as dust magnets. I now use Herbie's mats and have been quite pleased.
Who are your favorite A'gon posters? Almarg - extraordinarily knowledgable and always the gentleman.Elizabeth (when she was still around)
Opinions on Rega Apheta 3 or 2? You can purchase shims/spacers for Rega tables that assist in changing VTA. I have two P9's with Ortofon MC cartridges and use Acoustic Signature spacers with good results.https://acoustic-signature.com/en/accessories/rega-spacer-set/#productinfo...
Pop up ad blocker? I also use Adblock on my old MacBook Pro and relatively new iPad. It works great. If I visit a site that blocks me due to my blocking its ads, I switch to "Reader View" and 95% percent of the time I get through.
Cassettes still rock! I also marvel at the excellent sound quality a well recorded cassette can provide. As I've noted in other posts, I still listen to - and enjoy - cassette recordings I made in the late 90's and early 2000's of a great weekly jazz program hosted by...
What are Your Favorite and Most hated Record Manufacturers With respect to companies still pressing LPs, I've had generally good experience with Acoustic Sounds, Mofi and Analogphonic. Generally bad luck with Yarlung Records.
What have you liked in a Audiophile FM table radio? I've owned a Tivoli Model Two for over 15 years - stereo model. I use it in the kitchen. Sounds great and has been trouble free
Where is dougdeacon? And, unless I've missed them, haven't seen any posts from elizabeth lately.
Cassette: A Documentary Mixtape I also still use cassettes. I probably have +/- 300 or so. My first deck was an Aiwa FD-660, purchased in 1983, on which I made many recordings. I also have a Nakamichi DR-10, purchased in the late 1990's. My prize recordings include a couple ...
Flux HiFI Electronic Stylus Cleaner I've owned a Signet SK305 electronic cleaner since the mid-1980's, and it have serve me well over the years. I don't recall the price I paid - probably about $30.00 or so.
Mood Music Last "movement" of Bach's BWV 51 (Jauchzet Gott in Allen Landen) sung by Maria Stader. A beautiful coloratura Alleluia by my favorite soprano.
Sale on Acoustic Sounds Blue Note 45's 3-e-p - The sonics are quite fine - certainly as good as Mosaic BN. (Don't think I have any Quiex BN's - but I have other Quiex titles and, again, the APO sonics are every bit as good, IMO.)
Smaller PrimaLuna Integrated Owners... I have 15 year old Omega Hemptones hooked up to my PL DiaLogue Premium Integrated. I've run EL34s, KT120s and KT88s, and I prefer the Gold Lion 88's to the others. The old Omegas really sing with the PL/88's. |
