Where should I go next? Where are my weak links? Ivan, You may also want to mark your calendar for AKFest which is near Detroit (forget which suburb). IIRC it is in April and will feature a number of different dealers and manufacturers. I would also suggest potentially trying out different power...
Dynavector XV-1S ---is it overkill for my system? Hi Will, The P75 might be lower noise with a lower impedance cart such as the 20XL or the XX-2. The 17D3 or other Karat carts have higher impedance and aren't as great a match with the P75. Might be worth auditioning with an XX-2 or XV-1S. But yea...
Dynavector XV-1S ---is it overkill for my system? While procewise a step down from your current phono stage, maybe you should audition. Dyna P75. You get synergy with Dyna carts, and the ability to run in PE mode, which works especially well with thelow impedance Dyna carts like the XX-2 or 20X2L.
Jasmine vs Musical Surroundings Nova Phono Pre-Amp Dynavector P75 is another you might want to add to that list. But both those you mention in your post seem to be highly thought of, for sure.
Best Jazz pianist Thelonius Monk & Keith Jarrett are at the top of my list. Surprised McCoy Tyner hasn't been mentioned yet, but he is another great one.
Speaker stand height Having trouble locating unscented clay kitty litter. Anyone able to point me to a cheap source for it?
Solid State Phono Pre-amp Recommendations Well, the Dyna P75 would be great with your Dyna carts, especially since your current one and the XX2 are low impedance. Love my SoundSmith rebuilt XX2 with the P75, which can be run in Phono Enhancer mode with it. Well worth trying out.
Low amount of buzz okay? Ground hum is another possibility that may be worth looking into.
Pass First Watt J2 vs F3 J2 I haven't heard but I have heard most of the other FirstWatt models (and the S-30 which I also really love). Of the FirstWatts my faves were the F2J and F3. I'd recommend getting on the phone with a FirstWatt dealer. Both Mark at Reno HiFi and ...
Is it save to convert XLR to RCA? Assuming you get the correct adaptor, while you will have no benefit going from balanced to RCA, it shouldn't be worse than RCA-RCA.Also, if you go with an RCA splitter, I would go with a one-piece metal splitter, rather than a Y-cable.
New 'Vinyl Flat' flattener? Give Vinyl Flat a call. I had a question about their product and they were super helpful. Probably get farthe doing that than talking to us bozos.
Upscaling Speakers, Downscaling Amp...What to Do? Well, you have a lot of fantastic options at that price point. I just wanted to butt in and say that I have just done the same thing at much lower price points. And even going to a sub $500 amp in order to upgrade speakers made a great improvement...
Anyone HEARD the qol 'signal completion' device? Or it will work in your system and sound great. Hifigeek1, have you tried it and are you basing your opinion on actual experience? I haven't tried it, but do feel strongly feel we should give the basis for our opinions here. Give a product and the...
In Search of a Passive Subwoofer Amplifier Scott,Are you here in Chicago or just your sub builder? Shoot me an email if you are local (if you can't do that thru A'gon I use the same user name on AudioCircle & AudioAsylum)
In Search of a Passive Subwoofer Amplifier What is the impedance of your subs and what kind of power do you need? I use a pair of Emotiva BPA-1s, each bridged for my two dual NHT SW2 subs. If you want more conamtrol for fine tuning, maybe grab something like an NHT X2. |
