Boron Cantilever and Ruby Cantilever, Why Ruby? One of these days I'd like to compare my SoundSmith rebuilt XX-2 (snapped cantilever, so replaced with SoundSmith's ruby) with an orginal boron cantilever XX-2.
Need advice on a pair of bookshelf speakers Patience and a little luck might get you a pair of Harbeth PS3er for not too much more than 1 grand. When you say bookshelf speaker, are you actually wanting to put it in a bookshelf or against the wall? If so, you will want a sealed or front-port...
Room treatments - GIK Vs Acoustimac Very interested in the answers to Milpai's question too.
Review: Harbeth Super HL-5 Speaker At first glance, I'd say that an 8W 300B amp wouldn't be sufficient for a Harbeth. But that is based on specs not personal experience. Also worth considering is room size, average listening volume and type of music you listen to.
which turntable to buy for $1500 best value ? Ask around of other Concept owners. Mats tend to be very turntable dependent. I didn't try many on my Amadeus, but all reports said that the Auditorium 23 mat was the only one that they considered an improvement, on THAT turntable. Maybe find mats...
Has anybody tried the Musical Fidelity M1 ViNL? I haven't tried it, but the below review came out recently:http://www.soundstagehifi.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=387:musical-fidelity-m1vinl-phono-stage&catid=55:full-length-reviews&Itemid=4As for the kW phono ...
How will you split $3000 between phono and cart ? I will suggest the synergy of a Dynavector XX-2 Mk II and the Dynavector P75 Mk II phono stage. You get the added advantage of a low impedance LOMC cart that takes full advantage of the P75's Phono Enhancer (PE mode). Love the combo in my system (...
which turntable to buy for $1500 best value ? A good move it seems. And you can also spend some of the money you saved now on some more records.
Enough SET Power for Rock and Roll Here is what Steve Guttenberg had to say about Zus with a number of amps, including the MiniWatt:http://news.cnet.com/8301-13645_3-20044696-47.html
Enough SET Power for Rock and Roll I have certainly been able to get some strong bass and rock levels with both of the value-priced amp options from MiniWatt (S1 and N3). Great way to try out a SET for not too much cash. Remarkably quiet tube amps, especially considering the cost.
Amphion Argon 3 I think all Todd was suggesting is that you be sure to give your feedback and input as well on these forums, in addition to asking quetions you'd like answered. The Amphions look great, but haven't heard them. I do own some speakers with a wavegui...
which turntable to buy for $1500 best value ? Please report back to us on your Simplex. Look forward to your impressions. And enjoy the new TT.
Not ENOUGH GAIN Since it is tubed, I'd turn it off for the sake of tube life, or unexpected tube "surprises" when you are not around...
Not ENOUGH GAIN Hmmm, since the Grounded Grid is a DIY preamp kit my recommendation is to contact the seller/designer of these kits Bruce Rozenblit and get his opinion on this. With the gain structure that Phil laid out, I'd also say that something sounds a bit f... |
