How To Field Questions About Your Audiophile Lifestyle...
I just loosely paraphrase a certain renegade Physicist. "If I have to explain, you won’t understand!"   Been using that since 1966(great when they ask why I ride a Harley, own a Jeep, or jump out of airplanes, too).
Beware the audio guru
Postscript: Please, don’t get me wrong. Over the years, I’ve also used a wide variety of test equipment and measurements, to confirm, set up and test whatever my senses have registered, wherever/whenever applicable/advisable. Trust, but verify!
Beware the audio guru
Just needing to vent: If you don’t like it, don’t believe it can work, haven’t tried it, or can’t measure why it sounds like that(whatever the, "it" might be): DON’T tell me I can’t trust the ears that have kept me alive(in a number of scenarios),...
what is the best Kt88 to get
Don’t forget how much tastes in sound differ.  Many may not like a certain tube's presentation, regardless of the application/component.
Audiophile LP's
Another vote for the Sheffield Direct to Discs(and no compression). The Thelma Houston/Pressure Cooker album, will REALLY test a system’s mettle, played at anything close to realistic levels. Doug Sax will probably always be my all time favorite M...
How many of us really suffer from AUDIOPHILIA NERVOSA
I see! This is just a suggestion: If you’re going to make statements like, "And no, there is no known cure", at the beginning of a thread, not desiring any retort, you might postscript that with something akin to, "NO OPPOSING VIEWS ALLOWED!" I’m ...
How many of us really suffer from AUDIOPHILIA NERVOSA
When did I ever depart from the theme of explaining how I find my system/music therapeutic and relaxing?   OR- did you only address your original post, to those that suffer the same malady as you?

I understand perfectly!   That's my philosophy, regarding my entire system.
How many of us really suffer from AUDIOPHILIA NERVOSA
Don’t mean to wax corny here, but- after just listening to Rickie Lee Jones singing, ’On Saturday Afternoons In 1963’, I had to add: My system just takes me there and getting away from here, is NICE!
How many of us really suffer from AUDIOPHILIA NERVOSA
Haven't seen an Audiophilia Nervosa Test, since the one in the April, 1993, issue of Stereophile.  Did well on that one also.   As long as what I hear in my listening room, compares nicely with what I hear(or have heard) in various recording stu...
NOS Tung Sol 6550 VS Tung Sol 6550 New Production
@tattoedtrackman- Just my take on what Schubert meant: The only current production output tubes, that can compete with the old Sylvanias, GEs, Mullards, Tung-Sols, Genelex, etc, are the EAT KT88s. Once having listened to those old tubes, they spoi...

Your very welcome. I edited my post, apparently while you were typing. I meant to include this, regarding Speaker Exchange's surround repair service: https://reconingspeakers.com/speaker-repair/repair-services/
Replacement Driver Help
The noise is probably your voice coil, rubbing the magnet structure, due to the decayed surround. If it’s still making music, the voice coil isn’t destroyed yet. Check with the guys at Madisound, for a replacement. They used to deal in a plethora ...
which 6sn7 gives the most air??
A footnote: All the Ken-Rads that I have tested/own(for back ups), are the black glass version. Don’t know if that makes a difference in the sound quality. Just that mine sound great.

Yes, output tubes will also affect your system’s sound/presentation. My previous octet of output tubes(in Cary monoblocks), were 1970’s, GE 6550As. Two sets of the same and a couple octets of Sylvania 6550s, before those(all mentioned being NOS, a...
