Black Gospel With Good Sound Take 6 (1988) - Warning: All acapella, but fabulous none the less.
worst 'long-lived' band I second Jimmy Buffet. At least most of the bands previously mentioned were, at one time, good. But Buffet? Crappy from day one and STILL crappy. I think that puts them at number one worst.
Do tubes "burn in"? My concern was not that after burn in the tubes would sound the same. I was just seeing if I liked the 12SX7's at all. They sounded different than the 12SN7's, as expected, but I did not expect them to have such poor clarity, especially noticable ...
Phillip Glass Fans Thanks Elizabeth for the Aguas da Amazonia recommendation. I just picked it up and it is wonderful!
Esotar T-330D Tweeter $530 used!? Yikes is right. I'd better run over to my volume knob and scale it back some right now. But I swear, they're worth it.
Esotar T-330D Tweeter Those are what I have in my Fontaines ... and they are awesome. Auditioning other speakers has made me realize that, for me, what breaks the deal and makes me keep my Fontaines over all others is the tweeter. It is the key which consistently creat...
Seeking best digital amp for $2000 Check out the NuForce web site. You can sign up to get a weekend audition of their amps for only $1 - this includes shipping!! I think they begin sending these out next month. Not sure if they'll be coming from "preferred" dealers or directly from...
Vandersteen 5a or Eggleston Andra II I agree with TVAD.I have the Fontaines (the top 3/4 of the Andras) and have come to a conclusion in my search for a full-range speaker, as I audition more and more speakers I always end up preferring the overall presentation of the Fontaines over ...
Your ONE all time favorite love song? "Love Stinks", J. Geils
Warmest speaker? If by warm you mean: non-fatiguing, non-laser beaming, forgiving (without losing music detail), plays everything exceedingly well including not-so-well recorded music (even rock-and-roll), then I'd say without a doubt the Daedalus DA-1s.
New Soliloquys with spikes and hardwood floors DIY! Get some "fender" washers from any hardware store. These are like regular washers, only with much smaller holes. Get enough of them so when stacked (and glued together with JB Weld) each spike sits in the hole but does not touch the floor. Th...
Mating with the Bryston 3B ST For that amount of dough I'd go for a Mapletree Audio 2A SE. Female vocals and jazz (my favorites as well) sound terrific with this pre: extended, full-bodied, deep; although I've only heard it in my system, which is not Bryston.
BACH Cello Suites - CD only Rcprince - Thanks. BTW: I just saw an EMI of Rostropovich at Border's.
Eggleston Andra 2 owners I do not own the Andras but do own the Fontaines. FWIW, I am extremely pleased with my setup driving the Fontaines: Opera Consonance Reference 2.2 (factory mod'ed) CDP; Mapletree Audio 2A SE Linetage (separate power supply with tube/HEXFRED hybrid...
Tube Amp for Totem Hawks My AVA Fet Valve Ultra 550 performs extremely well with my different but similarly spec'ed speakers (mine are 87 dB; dips to 6 ohms), though they do not have metal tweeter. However, the amp provides such an extremely smooth top end without sacrifi... |
