Terrible/Inappopriate songs ... Audiofeil - Right on! Though the singing is still good. A wonderful LP, but for that lousy song which fits better on a Sesame Street episode. Good call.
Cable Costs Relative to System Tpreaves - I understand your point, and at times it can be difficult to not be fooled by one's own conscience, but since I paid $0.00 for the ICs (retail $849 for standard four foot length pair, and mine are 12 foot pair so would have been much mo...
Cable Costs Relative to System My ICs between pre and amps cost more than my pre, which is a wonderful piece in itself. Never in my wildest dreams did I foresee that coming. But I just ignored common sense and committed to the best sounding ICs for me in my system. And am glad ...
Is preamp remote volume a deal breaker for you? No pre remote so I use CDP remote PAUSE in place of remote pre mute button. I don't want the music to proceed without hearing it anyway. So PAUSE works better for me than a mute button.
Is preamp remote volume a deal breaker for you? Nope. Best audio quality was my goal when shopping. If that included a remote, then great. If not, then I didn't care. Ended up with one which does not have a remote control and I've adjusted to it just fine. Have had it for years. I spin CDs, one...
worse entertainer or performer of all time?? Or get Gal Costa on CD, "Live at the Blue Note". Terrific voice, especially once she gets warmed up/relaxed.
Best CD I've heard so far 2011......... Marcin Wasilewski Trio, "Faithful", on ECM. Wonderful spacious and melodic jazz trio (piano, double-bass, drums). Great talents and musicianship (of course, its on ECM). If you enjoy any of the Keith Jarrett trio work, you'll love this recording (...
don allen gen II pre amp vs. Maple tree 4se Clio99 - yes, "factory" set. (referring to Dr. Peppard as a factory has me chuckling ;^) Do not know if Face is correct as I've never opened it up - might be. You might consider emailing Dr. Peppard if you have any design questions - he is very he...
don allen gen II pre amp vs. Maple tree 4se After speaking with Dr. Peppard and letting him know the output specs of my input devices he suggested 10db for my CDP and DVD player, and 18db for my cassette player, IIRC. This way, the master volume knob hovers near the middle of its travel for...
Should I bother to try a subwoofer? Yes, do bother. Just don't get crazy with the volume. You don't want to know it's there when on, but miss it when it is off. And don't be afraid to move it around the room a bit for optimal sound.
don allen gen II pre amp vs. Maple tree 4se When I was shopping for a pre amp I considered each of these mentioned thus far and ended up with the Mapletree. I never heard the others to compare. But I am thrilled to own the Mapletree. Simple circuit, point-to-point wiring, takes less expensi...
Share thoughts on Keith Jarrett Edorr - OMG! Is that Masabumi groaning al la Jarrett? I listened to some samples and while "Tethered Moon: First Meeting" sounds very promising (and very ECM), I am reluctant to add yet another Tourette's moaner/groaner to my cache. Anouar Brahem ...
Number of yrs. to reach the finished line? It has taken me six years of effort to cludge my system together to the point of complete satisfaction. (I still wish to install dedicated lines but that is for completeness rather than seeking out audio improvement.) During the journey, never hav...
Class A Amp owners, Whats your power bill? I listen on average once per week for a few/several hours. So don't know, don't care, as long as the music sounds awesome, which is it does. That is all I care about.
Best blues guitarist, Clapton or Green Bloomfield! |
