Procul H's My CD version of Salty Dog from Repertoire Records sounds terrific on my system, but I have no other version with which to compare.
How Long Ago Since You Cried Listening To Music? The other evening listening to The Guess Who "Live at the Paramount" (which by the way, newest remastered CD from "Master Tapes" is awesome sound and music). Just poured a large, cool bottle of Allagash Curieux ($12) into a beautiful Triple someth...
Acoustic Treatment on rear wall Matchstikman - Yes, one or two GIK 244s may work well for you as do for me. Good luck!
Subwoofer cables My pair of ACI Titans work well with cables from http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/subwoofer/index.htm. Well made and reasonably priced.
Acoustic Treatment on rear wall I have a wall behind me like you. I have used a couple of GIK 244 bass trap panels (2'x4'x4") on the wall directly behind my head to eliminate the bass null caused by the wall. Works very well. If you are near Atlanta you can borrow mine to try.
Russian 6C33C Tube Testing and Matching baaaaaa! Wrong answer. 6C33C take special tester. Doubt you'll find any radio, TV, guitar shop with one. There is a person on this forum who sells them, tested, for $60 a piece IIRC (just do a search in classified section). Perhaps he might be abl...
Which components are "stupid good"? My Mapletree Audio 2A/SE Linestage pre for <$1k new. By far THE least expensive piece in my system (which, IMHO, sounds world-class), including ICs! Yet I'd never consider parting with it.
Art Blakey experts please ... ? If you like Art with Lee Morgan and Wayne Shorter I'd also suggest "Paris Jam Session" and "Like Someone in Love", the latter has Bobby Timmons on piano. Great stuff!
Top 10 Jazz recordings ever Sbank - Don't be "shocked". I've listened to jazz for 40 years and never heard "Plays King Oliver". But thanks to you I checked it out - fabulous! Thank you for the recommendation!
David Honeyboy Edwards RIP Sad. Saw him perform several years back. Spoke with him for too brief a few minutes. Read his book, "The World Don't Owe Me Nothing" for a good perspective of history and blues from a man who lived a long and interesting life.
Having an ear for Jazz I began listening to music (rock, pop, soul, gospel, blues) when I was given a transistor radio at age 11 ("Cool Jerk", Working in a Coal Mine", "Devil with a Blue Dress On"). By 15 I began listening to jazz with one of my first rock album purchas...
If you could bring back one great artist that has Clifford Brown. Such a terrific player. Would love to see what his catalogue would have been had he lived another 30+ years.
is "audiophilia" another form of conspicuous consu Never! Not for me. Every purchase has been an important piece of the puzzle working towards a perfectly (for me) satisfying sound. If I could get that from an ugly $35 boom box I'd get it and have lots of $$ to spend otherwise.
Modern Linestages Marakanetz - 3 pairs inputs (all customized gains by Dr. Peppard per intended devices); 2 pairs outputs. Oh, and no remote either.
Best sounding system for under $10k Ck - actually, my system thread is up to date and likely to not change (seriously, I mean it this time :^). But here it is anyway:CDP - Opera Audio Consonance Ref 2.2 (upgraded w/ AuriCaps and ECC99);Pre - Mapletree Audio 2A/SE (upgraded w/ Back G... |
