maneiac, where did you hear 30lbs is all they can take? Rob
Von Scheikert VR4-Jr/ lead shot?
I talked to Kevin? I think it was at VS. He said they use 50lbs per speaker at the New York show. It sounds much better with the lead shot in my jrs. Rob
Review: Cary Audio Design 308 CD Player CD Player
Great review. I have the 308T as my main source. I have to say that SACD/DVD-A is not compelling to me since I have a Turntable and the 308T. I'm satisfied. Agree with the review. Rob
Is hdcd worth having ??
HDCD does make a decent improvement to my ears. Be warned though that they are no longer making HDCDs anymore, but what has been made is no more expensive than regular CDs. You may have some in your CD collection that you don't even know about. Rob
acoustic placement/small bright room
I actually put some 4" fiber glass in the middle of each wall and it worked to tame the brightness and the aggressive midrange. Now I am going to adjust my speakers again since I had them toed out to help with brightness. I should be in good shape...
Rocky return to vinyl
I think it would either be your TT setup or the fact that a recording on vinyl that is mediocre will usually sound bad. In my experience, LP's are either very good or very bad. CDs tend to be more forgiving on mediocre to bad recordings. A well-re...

San Francisco would be ok as well. But Chicago no doubt. Bring a jacket or two or three. Rob
acoustic placement/small bright room
Thank you very much for giving me that sanity check! I am probably going to get some fiberglass Owens 703 or something like that and cover with sheets for now. When I get into a larger room I’ll invest in full on room treatment. As the post by Riv...
Von Schweikert VR4-Jr: Urgent Opinions Needed
I also own the vr 4s and without a doubt they perform above $4k list price. If you can get them for a lot less then you are getting much more for your dollar. The midrange is very smooth for vocals. And the bass beats most speakers in this price r...
Floorstanders for small rooms? Budget $1200 used
I agree with s23chang. You won't get good bass in a small room anyway from floorstanders. I'd go with bookshelf. Unless it is a temporary situation. I bought floorstanders for my small room becuase I knew I'd be moving in a year or so. I'd check o...
Von Schweikert 4 Jrs, Rear Tweeter settings?
Ken, Thank God there is someone else in the world that is asking this same question. I posted this a year ago and got a lot of answers. I had the hardest time figuring it out and no one else seemed to have a problem. My dealer who I trust recommen...
Bag End TA15 vs. Von Schweikert VS4 series
Good for you! I love my VS speakers, but they aren't for everyone. Everyone should go through the speaker selection like you mentioned above instead of buying what the latest craze is. I like VS and a few other brands because they are to my liking...
Tori Amos..... Will she ever go Hi Rez?
Her LPs sound wonderful. And they aren't expensive. She's a good reason to get into vinyl. Otherwise, her CDs sound good too. I saw her live as well and she is terrific. But the sound system in the concert hall was bright and harsh. So her LP actu...
Cheap surge protector that doesn't sound horrible?
The monster will help with the surge protection, but will degrade the sound. $200 on Agon will get you a Chang which will actually help the sound and protect your equipment. Or $200 new Rotel has a surge protector which doesn't hurt the sound (doe...
Which cartridge for MMF-7
Dynavector whatever level you can afford up until the karat. Other brands start to become competetive over $750 IMHO. Just an opinion. Rob
