Newbie here again with a follow up Speaker question
Two thumbs up for the DeVore Gibbon 8! Truly excellent floor-standers - and USA-made (Brooklyn, NY) in limited-quantity by John DeVore! And listed at a very fair price, too! If I didn't already have so many speakers I'd be buying these myself!
You pick
Quads! I have been a happy owner since 1981! Presently own two pairs! Have used mine with a Bedini 25/25 and Futterman H3AA's.
The best tweaks EVER..
Hiraoka Diskmat SE-22. Bought mine new from Harvey Sound (NYC 48th St) in 1977 - $20! Still in use on my Ariston RD11S! Possibly the best TT mat ever!
New to Magnepan, a volume question
Thumbs up johnnyb53! The Parasound Halo Integrated would be the best value choice!
Which watts are the right watts in SS amps?
Years ago Harry Pearson (TAS) tested a pair of 1000 watt Bryston monoblocs. He was impressed by the clarity of the sound - especially at low listening levels! He concluded having all that power available was certainly beneficial, regardless of lis...
Newbee building a retro sound system from scratch. DCM speakers
I too am an owner of Time Windows (52779,52780). My third pair since 1977! Needless to say, a GREAT speaker! Instead of the McIntosh or Marantz I will recommend something far better (and still vintage): a Yamaha AX-2000 integrated amp (1985). Supe...
Newbie here with a cable question
I agree with willemj - no need to spend lots of money on wire! I recommend Anticables Level 1 IC's and speaker wire. Very good quality and honestly priced!       No need for any power conditioners - plug straight into your wall AC lines!          ...
Most overrated bands
New York Philharmonic!
Which audio component would you like Santa to place under the christmas tree for you?
My second wish would be for a matched set of 12 6LF6 GE's or Sylvania's for my pair of Futterman H3AA's (no's. 56 & 57)!
Which audio component would you like Santa to place under the christmas tree for you?
A NOS Grado Signature 2! I had a brief listen to one in 1978 and was impressed with its sound quality! And I am a staunch fan of mc cartridges! Price then was $500 (half that of a Koetsu).
Richard Shahinian
Truly sad to hear of the passing of Richard Shahinian. A great innovator and outside-the-box designer of some remarkable speakers (the Obelisk, Arc and Diaposon). You will be missed!

Voodo science plus a little showmanship is the way to get rich!
4 ohm speaker to 8 ohm reciver
Check out the Rogue Audio Sphinx integrated amp. 100+ watts and an excellent phono stage. Very well reviewed by Herb Reichert in Stereophile!  Made in the USA, too!
who knows ZYX retipping or refurbish ?
Send it to AJ VanDenHul in Amsterdam. The WORLD'S BEST mc cartridge expert!
What is your favorite budget audio component?
Pioneer PLX1000 TT with a Denon 103R. Sounds as good as multi-kilobuck TT's and cartridges!
