Buy the B&Ws first. Match everything to those as you go along...-RW-
You're selling that? But you just got it
Very funny, Dave, I got quite a chuckle out of your misery {smile]...-RW-
The CD player is dead.......
One thing seems to be forgotten - my CDs can travel wih me in the car, to friend's house, etc. I'll be damned if I'm going to tote my HDs all over the place...-RW-
Best Digital Audio Interface
Popcorn Hour offers some great products at very good prices...-RW-
still cant decide on an amp
The Enotivas will work VERY wll with those Paradigms and they are a *fantastic* value for the money. Plus, Emotiva will give you 30 days to evaluate in-home. I say go for it, I'm betting that you will never make use of their generous return policy...
Opinions please on a starter audiophile system?
$4,000 is plenty of money to puit together a VERY fine-sounding system. 1st, I'd settle on some speakers. I am (quite) biased here, Ifind my Gallo Reference 3.1s to be the best all-around speaker in its price category. They can be found here on A'...
Best Used CD Player Under $500?
Get an Oppo BDP-83 either new ($500) or used (~ $450). The CD playback is fine and your friend will also be able to play back DVD-Audio and SACDs, both of which are sonically superior to CDs. He'll also get HDCD playback as a bonus...-RW-
Best SACD's
The Elton John SACDs sound terrific!-RW-
i want that "sony" sound
Well, if you don't mind spending less money, I'd say you should take a listen to the Oppo BDP-83 SE. At $895 it will play every shiny disc made today and it will do so in a very fine manner.-RW-

Best Blu-ray/DVD player for under $800?
Just gte the Oppo and be done with it. It plays every shiny disc you have and does so magnificently. And Oppo' customer service is second to none. Buy the Oppo and sit back and enjoy the ride...-RW-
What's the latest word on the Emotiva UMC-1?
The UMC-1 is the best deal in audio, period. Don't let the low price fool you, this is a very goos AV pre-pro. Plus, Emotiva gives you 30 days to evaluate, your only risk is the shipping cost, about $25...-RW-
Which cable do you think is most important?
Ghstudio is right. Get your room as perfect as it can be and then worry about cabling. The speaker/room interaction is the most under-tweaked aspect of 99% of the systems out there. If you do not feel capable of doing this, consider having a profe...
HDMI for video / Coax Digital for audio????
HDMI has (much) higher bandwidth than coax or TosLink. If you want to be able to playback ALL of the multi-channel formats, including the new Dolby Digital and DTS formats, you *must* use the HDMI connection.
best sub $1K TT for 45 rpm
Hmmm, plays 45s, is easy to switch speed, and is belt drive...I'd have to say that you should check out any of the B&O turntables, they fit your specs to a T. And, because the tonearm and cartridge were designed as a "unit", most B&Os can ...
