Dude, for $1500 you're into Gallo Reference 3.1 territory (used, of course). These will cold smoke any of the speakers you mentioned...-RW-
Have you ever got emotionally attached
JBL L-65 Jubals - Lord, I loved those speakers! The first "serious" speakers I ever bought with my own hard-earned cash and I got them from Audio Assoc. in Bethesda, MD. I hauled them back and forth from DC to MD a few times, and they ROCKED where...
Spearsand Munsil High Definition Benchmark BluRay
It does not come with the BDP-93, it is an added cost from Oppo. However, I already had the one that was included with my 83. BTW, the 93 is a very slick unit, their best to date.

Snag a used Butler TDB-5150 or a 3150 here on the 'Gon. Tube goodness mated to MOSFET balls. 5 or 3 channel, 150 REAL watts/ch...I paid $1700 for my 5150, best amp I've ever had.-RW-
Pioneer BDP-05FD vs Oppo BDP-83
The Oppo BDP-83 is no longer in production, suppplanted by the BDP-93. I have a 93 and it is a very good unit. DVD upscaling is superb and the 93 also can play back music stored on USB and eSATA drives and can access a systems music server. This i...
confused on audio file formats
4est, Jax2 stated specifically that FLAC did not work in iTunes.I try o stay away from Apple software, they like to rope you in and hogtie you with their restrictions. I prefer more open and universal software. FooBar2000 comes to mind...-RW-

Which CD Players do not require a Pre Amp ?
All of the Oppos have volume control. Just be aware that lowering the volumd cuts out bits from the output...-RW-
Jimmy Thackery And The Drivers LIVE
Yeah, I used to see Jimmy regularly in the DC area, he's a real treasure. If you like him, you'll also probably enjoy Tom Principato. And it's too bad Danny Gatton is no longer around - ALL of these guys bow down to him as their mentor and master....
Anyone have any experience in car audio?
I dunno, if you say that you cannot hear the bass why don't you just crank up the bass? Let your ears be the final arbiter of the settings, not some magical number...-RW-
Trade- off, power SS vs tube magic.
Why have to make a trade-off? Simply get a Butler Audio amp - tube goodness mated to MOSFET power. These show up from time to time on A'gon. I can tell you that I am tickled pink with mine - the last amp I will probably ever buy...-RW-
Perhaps we should stick with midfi...
