Your Thoughts on the BAT VK-3i @kjweisner ... thanks for the post. I've had my VK-3i for almost 15 years and, in all that time, have not had a desire to upgrade. However, a'phile nervosa rears its ugly head from time to time, and I begin to wonder what component, if any, I sho...
Your Thoughts on the BAT VK-3i FYI, the VK-3i uses four 6922 and two 6V6 tubes. There are no 6H30s, thank goodness.
Nuvista Tubes - General George ... then what's the point of a hybrid design if the transistor buffer controls sound quality?
Nuvista Tubes - General I have owned the MF Nu- Vista 3D CD player for about 16 years. It is really a wonderful piece of gear. The sound is very "natural," almost analog in nature and is not at all "syrupy." Pretty good for a metal encased micro-tube.As for the Nu-Vista...
My SVS subwoofer will not turn on from auto mode This is a common problem with subs. Try turning up the volume on your receiver or turn the switch on the sub to "on" and then back to auto mode.
Help ... Totally stuck (subwoofer topic) UPDATE ...As it turns out, both the xover and the phase needed to be re-set once I switched to using the sub's line out. I set the xover to 80Hz and phase to 40 degrees. Now, it sounds really awesome. Much greater headroom for the highs and mids, ...

Help ... Totally stuck (subwoofer topic) Yep, both the xover and the phase needed to be re-set once I switched to using the sub's line out. I set the xover to 80Hz and phase to 40 degrees. Now, it sounds really awesome. Much greater headroom for the highs and mids, and the e110 really di...

Help ... Totally stuck (subwoofer topic) If you mean xover frequency, yes. No meaningful difference. What really mystifies me is why the sub sounds better without the xover engaged.
Help ... Totally stuck (subwoofer topic) Yogiboy ... I understand that would be the case IF I were running it in that configuration. Problem is, it sounds weak and lifeless when run that way. That's why I'm running the secound pre-out into the sub directly. The first pre-out runs into th...
Speaker upgrade... Keep the Dunlavys. You’ll regret selling them. Upgrading for the sake of upgrading results usually in disappointment. Since you like the Dunlavys and are happy with them, I will quote the Allman Brothers ... "Don't mess up a good thing."
Rythmik subwoofers? @bdp24 ... Well said!
Rythmik subwoofers? @bdp24 ... At the time, I bought the L12 because the difference between it and the F12 seemed insignificant ... the F12 has a 400 watt amp vs the 300 watt of the L12, thereby providing an additional 1dB of sound for $400 more. Plus, I didn't thin...
Rythmik subwoofers? @bdp24 ... just because the L12 is a budget model, doesn’t mean that it should be less reliable than the F12. Initially, I thought the L12 would be a good deal; I didn’t go for F12 because I didn’t need its bells and whistles. After the L12 failed... |
