Anticipating next upgrade after B&W 803 D3?
Trust me, it's the room. Think about room size and treatments, if any.
It’s a pleasure.
I agree. I am now at the point where I'm more focused on the music than the gear.
Turned Off My Subwoofer ... And My Speakers Sound Great
@phillyb The sub is very well designed. It's a great piece of equipment in the right setting and, probably, with the right person (not me) setting it up.

@dpac966 ... I’ve tried it both ways. It has been run parallel with the mains from a second preamp output, and has been run in a loop with the sub output into the power amp input, thereby allowing use of the sub’s internal xover. In both instances...

The more I listen to and enjoy the Pulsars without the sub, the more I'm inclined to bag the sub and avoid the hassle. At this point, I'd rather worry about the music than the gear.

@tomic601  I've heard both versions of the Pulsars in different rooms with different systems. I'm convinced that the Graphene 2 provides an incremental upgrade over the non-Graphene model. On a percentage basis, I'd say it's about a 3% improvement...
Turned Off My Subwoofer ... And My Speakers Sound Great
FWIW, Jeff Joseph (who personally set up the Pulsars in my room) told me he thinks that because of the small room size, the subwoofer likely overloaded the room with bass. He thinks also that integrating a sub in such a small space is quite challe...

@tomic601  I'll definitely keep the Pulsars in any event ... they sound wonderful. I have no desire to change speakers.

@millercarbon ... trust me, it’s way too tight for a DBA in my room. As I read the comments here and think about what has happened, I’ve concluded that a subwoofer is not necessary in every application where a 2 way speaker is used. That was a mis...
Turned Off My Subwoofer ... And My Speakers Sound Great
@erik_squires Thanks for the links. My very small listening room (i.e., 10x9x8 - a converted bedroom) is treated with a variety of items from GIK. Perhaps the room is too small for a 10" sub, or perhaps the treatments negate the need for one at al...
Your favorite Small Apartment Speakers
Another vote for the JA Pulsars. Mate them with a subwoofer, and you can do mega metal!
30w class A amp for Joseph Audio perspective 2?
Jeff Joseph told me that I should use an amp of at least 60wpc with my Pulsars. I can’t imagine that you could get away with lower wattage with the larger Perspectives.
Balanced Audio Technology MK-30 tubes. Alternative to Sovtek 6922
I think you mean a "VK-30" and not an "MK."
How do you know what room treatments to use?
My converted bedroom (10x9x8) sounded like cr*p. It was just awful. I called GIK and sent them pictures of my room. They made several suggestions which I incorporated into the room. It was transformative. My room, despite its dimensions, now sound...
Upgrade Question
Having lived with the Delta Sigma for such a long time, I am certainly open to trying R2R. I may go for a relatively inexpensive one, such as a Denafrips Ares II, just to give it a try and see what it’s all about. I wish I could borrow one, but th...
