Need help on speaker selection
Vandy's have the ability of having abundant bass. However, Richard Vandersteen designed in compensation for a flatter response. I do know he did very elaborate designs on this for the Model 3 and Model 5. I do not know what he did for the 2 series...
Revel salon Bass
I think one of the biggest problems with many dealer showrooms is the acoustics (yes--there goes Rives again on acoustics). Everything from poorly sized rooms with bass mode build up to rooms that have false ceilings leading into cavernous areas t...
Room Acoustics--Stereophile Soapbox
Cmo: Contact us--and visit our website, there's a lot of free information there. Particularly in the listening room --it's a tutorial on listening room issues.Charlie: Riiiiggggghhhhtttt.
Looking for clean power
Sean: Thanks I'll e-mail you. I used a 6.5 kVA unit in my home. I know it weighed about 250 lbs. The larger equitechs weigh up to 400 lbs. I do think they are fabulously built. They were made for recording studios and now are being marketed for ho...
Digital Room Correction: The Final Frontier?
Duddley: The PARC is designed to do one thing and one thing only--deal with room modes. We wanted to keep everything in the signal path as simple as possible (but not simplier). Thus, we do not address time alignment issues, nor do we operate on t...
Looking for clean power
Sean: Where are the Xentek or Topaz available, and what kVa are they rated up to? I did my own isolation with a medical x-ray iron core transformer. However, these are custom made for the medical industry and specific companies and not readily ava...
Digital Room Correction: The Final Frontier?
Newbee--was that on the simulator you are referring to? It does a pretty good job and is really designed to flatten the frequencies as much as possible below 500 Hz. Above that number you may have notice very little changes. As to your other comme...
Looking for clean power
It's not cheap, but Equi-Tech makes the finest wall mount units. Run a dedicated 220 V line to one of their subpanels and then they have separate circuits that can be used for amps, analog source, digital sources, TV and others depending on how la...
Digital Room Correction: The Final Frontier?
Of course, it's good when we don't have to correct rooms electrically but can do it passively--this can be almost impossible in the bass region. I'm not at all surprised as to your findings--I only wish you had found our company first. We are an a...
DIY Room tunes: close enough for rock and roll?
Onhwy is correct, on both accounts. Argent does not recommend this mix as they want the upper bass and mid band to be pure and not muddied by Bass traps. The purity gives the resonator the ability to function on high Q signals. The bass traps will...
Advise Needed, Best speakers for approx $15,000
Let's see, how many replies and how many suggestions so far? Have you gotten any closer to a decision? I doubt it--I wouldn't have. June 5-8th is the HE 2003 show. It's designed for consumers. True the show venues are not the greatest set-ups (und...
help from revel enthusiasts please
Well, like many things in audio you will get opinions all over the map. In reality it comes down to your dollars and your ears--not anyone elses. I was thoroughly impressed with the M20s. I think Revel has really built an outstanding value with th...
Room Demensions, am I in trouble?
Sorry to take so long to get to this thread. I have been travelling for the last week, so I have not had the time for A-gon (and still don't, but I like this site too much to stay away).Even though it's pretty easy to figure out what the room resp...
room treatments? is it the room that's bright?
The problems with bass traps is they generally absorb broad band, and are usually not efficient enough to do the job. Yes, they claim efficiency of 90%, but that's for a very small area relative to the walls that are creating the problem. The resu...
room treatments? is it the room that's bright?
I probably wouldn't have recommended those traps, but since you have the traps (and they were free), work on their placement critically. The distance from the corner determines the peak frequency attenuation. Off center will broaden this band syme...
