suggestion for replacing Totem Arro I knocked mine over a couple times, so I built some stands. If they had been available at the time, I would have used the outriggers from Soundocity. Here's a link to a picture of my system in its old configuration that shows the stands:http://www....
Static electricity Killin me. I found that using a humidifier and not using rubber soled slippers/shoes worked for me.
VPI Scout setup after watching Frefmer's video I've had a lot of experience with this, including installing and using VPI's anti-skate "device". (I think "device" in the VPI lexicon means "contraption"). Go with Stringreen's suggestion. Just leave the wire with it's natural twist and go from t...
underrated or unheard of musician/band Pharaoh, a metal band out of Philadelphia. Their album "The Longest Night" rates in my top ten all time.Historically, there were a couple of bands; Medieval out of Kalamazoo and Starfighters out of England that never seemed to make it, that regula...
Phono cables I use the VPI Cable with my Scout. I don't know if anything has changed with more recent production, but my JMW-9 and the cable were advertised as having Discovery tonearm wire at the time.
Balanced audio switching The MAD switch is called a "Line Router". Just scroll down on the page I linked. My RCA one is direct wired; no circuit board. RCA's and wire appear to be god quality. The case is nice. Maybe not as nice as brushed aluminum, but still good.
Is there any real alternative to Oppo?? Technically Oppo and Cambridge use the same Mediatek platform. There are a number of threads on this, but "Agisthos" appears to have a good handle on this in this thread:http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?ddgtl&1314367322&openfrom&...
Is there any real alternative to Oppo?? There are about a dozen Oppo 93/95's on AudiogoN right now.As a minor thread hijack, does anyone know of a "high end" universal player that isn't a rebadge of one form or another?
Balanced audio switching MAD makes a very nice manual switch:http://hollowstate.netfirms.com/otherproducts.htmI have the RCA one in my stash and it is quite good.Like Amarg, I wouldn't recommend the Y Cable. The only time I have used one was to split output from the line ...
Totem Arro vs Revel Concerta F12 A couple of points,I'm right behind you, as I have rearrange my listening space for more room for speakers. I'll wait a bit, as the new Revel line is coming out now, so it may be worth waiting to see how the F206 shapes up.I would keep a contingen...
Digital XLR Cables You need an AES3, commonly known as an AES/EBU cable. It is 110 Ohms vs 75 Ohms. I would also double check the pinout on your processor and DAC, as sometimes these aren't consistent.
balanced output VPI No, you won't have to modify the box. Again, it's all in the manual.
balanced output VPI To be honest though, I would probably just try it with a regular interconnect and see if it shows any promise.
Totem Arro vs Revel Concerta F12 I have the Arros as well, but they definitely need a sub if you want appreciable bass (I have the Storm). If you look around, you can find measurements for both speakers and it appears that the F12's have a flatter response and more bass, but I wo...
balanced output VPI The Phono stage has only RCA inputs. There is a diagram in the manual describing how to wire an RCA interconnect to go from RCA phono box to the RCA input. As I interpret it:The cable needs to have two wires and an external shield. One wire is for ... |
