How effective is the Onzow Zerodust? I use it on every play, then once a month or so, I do the disk doctor liquid.
Nitty Gritty Mini-Pro cleaning machine I like it because you don't have to worry about dirt from one side being transferred to the other via the platter on single sided machines.I actually flip mine and give both sides a clean in each direction.
Do you swap cables when using a headphone amp? or a switch box or pass the signal through the headphone amp to the Pathos, if you get one that has that capability.
dusting? or covers? I use black nylon covers. One relatively inexpensive source is digital deck covers:http://www.digitaldeckcovers.com/If you use them for a custom cover, I do suggest you add an extra 1/2" or so to each dimension, as they cut things pretty close.
If hard drive betters optical digital retrieval Bosrt is correct.Flash memory was never intended to be as fast or reliable as a regular hard drive. Of course, no one envisioned the uses - such as long term storage - that it is used for today. I'll definitely wait and see on this one.
If hard drive betters optical digital retrieval Why, when you can just use a computer? That being said, I think PS Audio has something in the works that does that.
Looking for $20k system for Mahler No 6 I think the frequency response of the speakers will have to be fairly good at 40Hz, maybe below for the "hammer" and bells. I think I would start there; reviewing the various graphs in Stereophile, UHF etc.

Scout Mini Feet 45 RPM Per accoustic sounds website:"May not work effectively with the VPI Scout at 45RPM due to the motor pulley/platter height differences"I think all this means that the feet raise the level of the table up a bit so the 45RPM part of the pulley is low...
Ortofon Kontrapunkt B vs Rondo Bronze I wouldn't mind knowing myself. I have a Bronze which I love, but wouldn't mind trying the B or C at a later date.
Walker or VPI motor controller with scoutmaster? There's a guy on audioasylum who had both. He kept the Walker. I suggest you do a search there. If I was to buy one myself, I would still consider the SDS because of the way it ramps down the voltage when the motor is running. My motor gets pretty ...
Has Anyone Used a "Spin-Clean" Unit Before? I used the Disc Doctor manual brushes (which I recommend) and a Spin Clean to rinse the LP's after cleaning. I had good results with this combination, but moved to a motorized machine for convenience.
UPS Shipping/Damage Claim policy experience How is this UPS' problem?Sounds to me like you were taken by the seller.
Buying from Canada a hassle for you too? Tobias, that is my working theory - That courier shipments get dinged and postal doesn't.Also, the Fedex Ground shipment probably got hit with the big brokerage fee on top of everything -i.e. The big fee we get nailed with on US to Canada shipment...
Buying from Canada a hassle for you too? As always, I would like to hear about any American buyer who has actually been charged anything on a shipment from Canada.Technically, it should be happening, but I have no actual confirmed occurrence. |
