Versatile, non-fatiguing speakers for a small room under $1500 used or new: advice needed!
@ jjss49  I agree, but was trying to cut to the chase and give the OP a quick opinion.  Clearly there are many speakers he can try.  If he goes with Maggies first, he can easily weed out pretty much everything else. Not to say he might not end up ...
Can anyone recommend an FM Receiver that would play into a relatively high end system?
Both Onkyo and Sequerra-Day made the best sounding tuners back in the day when that was considered important.Used ones are out there; you will pay more for the Sequerra than the Onkyo (T-9090 II), I would guess.  Of course, you need a good antenna...
Versatile, non-fatiguing speakers for a small room under $1500 used or new: advice needed!
The only non-fatiguing speakers I have ever heard in my life are from Magnepan.  Try whatever used model you can afford. If you do not believe me, install a pair of them next to any box and give it a week.Cheers!
If you could, what live performances would you enjoy re-living?
Five (there could be 50, but...):1.  Beatles  DC (now JFK) Stadium 08/15/66     (Warm-up act: The Cyrkle; ticket $5.00) 2.  Loggins & Messina, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles  Tampa Stadium 07/04/76     (Rumors AND Hotel California!)3.  Linda Ronstadt  ...
The best speakers over 50K
OP:  I understand your question, and it is interesting, but who would equate $$ with "good?"Better yet, go listen to everything you can and pick what you like.  I guarantee you that much less costly Magnepan speakers reproduce music better than an...
How to physically move large heavy 100lb amplifiers easily (up and downstairs)
Hire a couple of college kids--they need the $$!Cheers!
Who are your three favorite female singers?
@cd318 THANK-YOU for mentioning Joan and Diamonds. I just bought a new pre-amp (replaced my Lux CL-32's, which were 50 years old and finally gave out) with an Audio Research SP-6B (used of course--all I could afford) and WOW! Huge difference ...
What's your favorite boutique speaker maker
@hilde45 Thank-you. You got it, and no disrespect to the many wonderful designers of old and today. They are dedicated, hard-working people trying their best (for the most part) to produce superb products that are both accurate and able to be sold...
Who are your three favorite female singers?
I would defer to Linda Ronstadt's book where she says that she can tell in about 30 seconds who a singer is imitating as all singers imitate someone else until they find "their own" voice, so to speak.  (I would say Buddy,  Chuck, Jerry, and Elvis...
During this isolation, I would be interested in suggestions of great movies you like.
@skyscraper--Cool--Treasure of the Sierra Madre.  One of my fav film lines of all times...you all know what it is, certainly.Good one!Cheers!
What's your favorite boutique speaker maker
I don't know if you would consider them exactly "boutique" since they have been around so long, but Magnepan makes actual speakers.  The rest are having fun, I am sure, but if you want to hear only what you put into a transducer, try them.Cheers!

Josie and the Pussycats, of course! Also, Ruthless People if only for the sets and Bill Pullman's part...and Bruce's song, as well.(Someone listed Tender Mercies; a SUPERB film from every variable important in film making.)@mwatsme There is BRIEF N...
Wanting to get back into the hobby and want to start with the speakers.
The reason you like Magneplaner speakers is that, unlike any other form factor, they do not sound  like "speakers."They reproduce what you send them, period.SO, your ROOM first--most important variable in any sound system or music concert.  Then, ...
Speakers which always sound good
@tomavodka  You ARE kidding, right?  I would guess a 2" speaker in a 1955 Japanese transistor radio would sound more like music.Good joke, though...
Speakers which always sound good
@rixthetrick I thought so too until I found out I had to pay over $75,000 in PERMITS.Houses are a bit more expensive than you might think to build today, and we do it all ourselves except the beginning basics--plumbing, slab, walls, trusses (no ba...
