HA, ha, ha.  BOSE!  What a joke that was.Gee, I need to see more ads of tall, white guys in Buddy Holley glasses and white lab coats telling me how good bose 901's were.  They were the joke of the industry, remain so, and to this day, simply seein...
Maggie LRS so ridiculously good
@optimize I could not have stated it better.Look. I don't have my shop any more, so I have no skin in this at all, but what I learned, given that I could lock the door and LISTEN to every speaker of any quality on the market at the time for as lon...
Maggie LRS so ridiculously good
I keep posting that Magnepan has the most accurate speakers. NOW, YOUR ROOM may not be right for them. I have set up over 75 pair in my time and there are rooms that just do not work with them. However, a good dealer with knowledge can pretty much...
My journey to find a speaker + amp + setup for classical music (piano)
After you listen to ALL those speakers IN YOUR ROOM, go get a pair of smaller Magnepans and wail out your piano. You will be amazed, I am sure.Cheers,Richard
Horn speakers , high efficiency but not “shouty”
I have posted it before, but will again:Horns belong on top of poles at high school football stadiums, period.I challenge you to A/B your horns with any model of Magnepan speakers and see if you still want the horns.  Listen especially to voices a...
Speaker Suggestions/Opinions

Straight out of the box doesn't work.
In my experience as a dealer, IT HAPPENS.  Period. The manufacturer will make it right if you speak to him/her.Sorry for the inconvenience; maybe they will give you a perk or something to make up for their error.  Never hurts to ask, and be polite....
Worst Concerts You Have Attended ??
@ rockysantoroI saw that concert at the Jacksonville Auditorium...can't remember the year, but 1966 comes to mind.  Anyway, announcer says there is an "opening act from England" and Hendrix walks out.  Never heard of him, and the audience was par...
Worst Concerts You Have Attended ??
My almost favorite band--The Eagles--Miami Stadium.  I walked out after the 4th song, which was really the 2nd song.  They started and stopped the first two songs twice.  My guess is that they were so high they could not perform. It was completely...
What makes speaker's sound big?
@ mahgister  Well, my answer was a bit short and not really explained.  Obviously, EVERYONE knows that YOUR ROOM is the most important element of ANY sound system.Having agreed to that (I hope), we can then discuss a version of physics and psycho...
For ARC lovers, Problems?
ALL manufacturers have issues occasionally, just like all auto manufacturers or anyone who makes complicated products. For example, EVERY Phase Linear amp I ever sold failed soon after purchase.  Same with almost all Nakamichi products, which tende...
Suggest one obsure album we all should hear
Any Sheffield DIRECT-TO-DISC album will open up your eyes and reveal the positives and negatives of your system IN YOUR ROOM.Try it and see--it is remotely possible you might learn something!Cheers!

Easiest answer ever:MAGNEPANI realize that every manufacturer is not making tall speakers--wonder where they got THAT idea??Try the best and the original.  Jim Winey was a pretty smart engineer, I guess.Cheers!
