Best CD I've heard so far 2011.........
Obrown - It's very hard to comment, a very subjective topic. I can only say for myself, I listen primarily to newer music with the exception of jazz and classical where I tend to prefer older material (50's + 60's). Those records you have in your ...

Tatw....thanks for posting those. Never heard of any of them but loved the samples I found, particularly The Deep Dark Woods. Pure and timeless music. Thanks!!

Keith the new Girls album is fantastic. Glad you mentioned it in this thread because it belongs for sure. It's got it all...great rock songs (Die), Lennon-esque emotional ballads (My Ma), blistering power ballads (Vomit)....it's a must have.
Best CD I've heard so far 2011.........
Glad you enjoyed it too Marco. The album is a wonderful recording too. Tremendous bass and cool ambient detail in Hopkins field recordings. All of this creates an eerie contrast to the traditional Scottish folk style of King Creosote. This one is ...

A nice article about Diamond Mine (posted just above) from NPR:"If the year ended right now, I'd know my favorite record of 2011. Out May 24, Diamond Mine does what audio does best: It takes me far from the here-and-now.This labor of love, seven y...

The War On Drugs "Slave Ambient"If you liked Kurt Vile's solo album, you'll prolly like this. I think it is actually much better although he is not on this one. Great record!

Best cover songs?
Dylans I Was Young When I Left Home by Antony Hagerty and Bryce Dessner (National)from the Dark Was The Night compilation. Antony and the Johnsons also do a beautiful Knockin On Heavens Door on the I'm Not There soundtrack. If you have not heard t...
Where would you measure temp?
Al...thanks so much for taking the time to check that information. Sounds logical to me and should be plenty close enough for my curiosity. You are correct, they are 360's and I do plan to take the samples after some decent use. It's not critical ...
Where would you measure temp?
Thanks for your input guys. The amp is Spectral and my question was poorly stated, sorry. The spec states, similar to Al's guess, that thermal threshold is 185 F but was wondering where is this temperature being measured? Here a paste from the spec...
What would happen if Maggie and Wilson Mated?
Hmmm....the problem with this type of event is always naming the outcome. It seems to end up with something silly like Labordoodle, Goldendoodle or.....Cockapoo (seriously?). The other day a woman stopped me on the street while I was walking my do...
Designer Hall of Fame
Apologies if I missed it and this is a repeat but my top of the list would be Prof, Keith Johnson and Rick Freyer of Spectral Audio, Reference Recordings and Pacific Microsonics and possibly Michael Ritter of Berekeley Audio Designs belongs in tha...
Do powercords make a difference in sound?
Liguy - Have you done any in depth listening/comparison with some good aftermarket power cords or is your "opinion" purely theory based?
Ideal
A couple more pretty nice budget subs are Emotiva and Epik which I think are in or close to your range. That's a growing market.
Favorite music
A quick correction, he produced/played on Dylan's Time Out Of Mind and Oh Mercy, not Blonde on Blonde or Blood On The Tracks. All great albums! Not that anyone asked but I do not care too much for Le Noise. Both artists have done much much better w...
