D'Agostino Momentum amp melts down
Definition of AGENDA1: a list or outline of things to be considered or done From Webster's dictionaryIt seems appropriate for a forum. I have clearly stated the concerns I have with the amplifier and Stereophile.I will continue to subscribe to the...
D'Agostino Momentum amp melts down
Rhljazz, what exactly is your agenda in starting this thread? Nowhere in the Stereophile article does it say anything about a melt down. The amp stopped working. It didn't melt, catch fire or explode, yet you keep using language suggesting some Ch...
Gear vs. Music investment. What's your ratio?
I recently purchased the Decca and Mercury Living Presence boxed sets, 50 cd's each set. The total price was around 240.00 for both. There is no gear that would come close to matching the value of that music investment!Overall, I've spent more on ...
Wadia debuts new Integrated
Looks like somebody sat on it. DeVialet is much cooler in the looks department.
Listening Room Art Work
I like water colors. Artwork provides a visual stimulation to coincide with the aural delight of music. I find listening rooms with bare walls or only acoustic panels less than inviting.
I rolled tubes and I got hum
I ran into the same thing. In my case it was poor contacts due to loose pin to socket contact. I would also check if the tube pins are clean.
Audio Research Contact.
The same Italian Corporation also purchased McIntosh as well as owning Sonus Faber. Just so you know Well, isn't that interesting! That is the same two companies that have generated so much ill will in the secondary (used) market of late. It doesn...
would b&w 802n be an upgrade to my b&w 804S?
If you can't tell the difference or like what you have, than keep what you have. The N802 is a substantial upgrade from an N804. There are audible reasons it is two models up and way more money than the 804.
Fremer lays an Ostrich egg...
This weekend I reread the review in TAS by Robert Harley. He had reservations regarding the amps as well. The review states the amps sounded markedly different than comparable amplifiers, especially in the upper frequencies that were exceptionaly ...
is there a way to tighten pins in tube sockets?
Mission accomplished. I used a jewelers screwdriver. Once the amp was out of the rack and on the dining room table it was easy to see the pin receptors, two curved and one flat in each hole. The amount of adjustment was slight to achieve a solid fit.
Modwright LS100 VS Modwright LS36.5
Wow .. 4-500 hours that's a long time... is there a shorter way to do it...Send it to me first. I'll do it for you. I always enjoy something new to experience. I'll send it back when you want. LOL.
is there a way to tighten pins in tube sockets?
I was thinking there might be a "special tool" for performing the tighten operation. Since I work on BMW's, they have a "special tool" for everything. I'll take a look at the amp this weekend and see what's possible.
Vertical Audio Rack for Tube Equipment?
Mapleshade racks are infinitely adjustable and overall height can be customer specified.
Best of both worlds..Image and slam
Acoustic Zen Crescendo has incredible punch and imaging. I would suggest giving them a listen. A little above your budget new but used ones have come up under 12K, or put your bargaining skills to work if you like what your hear.
THE GREAT AC OUTLET SHOOTOUT.
I like the idea. Just run the test as Peter proposed. First let's find out if there exists an audible difference. Then evaluate further to determine if there is an absolute winner or at least a couple of contenders. If these events prove a sonic s...
