Has any one heard Magico Speakers? I read the review and wondered why Jonanthan Valin did not compare the the Magico monitors to the Kharma 3.2s, of which he has written extensively in the past. It would seem to be a natural comparison. From just reading between the lines, Mr. Vali...
Amp Upgrade for Aerial 10t's Dan_ed, you may be right, as I had them only 2.5 feet from the wall. There just didn't seem to be much depth to my ears, and images were a little smaller-than-life. But I nevertheless loved them for their natural, un-hi-fi sound. They are very for...
Amp Upgrade for Aerial 10t's I used a Pass X350 for a couple of years (after moving up from an Aragon 8008ST). The improvement in the mids & highs was so stunning it sounded like a new, much better, speaker... smoother, angelic, sweet, airy, etc. Vocals were suberbly natu...
Any reccomendations for amplifiers for my Quad 988 I heard them sound very nice (superbly defined 3D images of instruments in there own space) with Conrad-Johnson amplification (in a store demo).
Anybody heard the VSA VR4 to VR5 upgrade? I was captivated by the VR9s at the New York show in 2005, hearing especially smooth mids and highs that were, at the same time, palpable and detailed, a rare combination of strengths in my experience. I thought that the ribbon super-tweeter had s...
best speakers for vocals? Old Apogee Stages. Anyone agree?
What is a better value speaker -- Kharma 3.2FE at Ca2284, thanks.I now use an Edge NL12 amp(a late model one with most of the upgrades that are in a 12.1, such as the 12.1's power supply). I think it is a very good match for the 3.2 and can recommend it. I actually think the sound at all frequenc...
The iPod and the Audiophile The problem is that I think newer pop and rock recordings are being produced to sound better in an Ipod/MP3 environment, with a prominent upper-midrange and lower treble, along with too much stress on vocals. All this stuff makes modern rock sound...
What is a better value speaker -- Kharma 3.2FE at I owned WP6s for a couple of years and switched to the Kharma 3.2s. I still have the Kharmas and I am happy with them. I had the Wilsons (with a Pass X350 amp and ML No. 32 preamp) and could never get the midrange & highs to sound right (they ...
To Plug Power Amps Direct in to Wall or Not ?? My Pass dealer told me to do so (right into the wall), as recommended by Pass. Sure enough, all surge protectors or AC filters I tried made my X350 sound compressed. I have discovered the same is true with my Edge NL12, which is now also right int...
Please recommend DVD Recorder w/hard-drive. Gobulls, thanks. I am looking at the DMRE55.
Do they make Speakers For Rap/Rock I suggest Aerials (used 10ts or others in the new line). They are not ruthlessly revealing and sound nice on all sorts of recordings. With rap, dance, etc., you do not want edgy midranges (which can make vocals artificial or hard) or hot tweeters,...
Please recommend DVD Recorder w/hard-drive. Sid, thank you! I will look into it. -Rich-
Purist or Kubala-which to buy for entire system Yes, cost was not a factor. As a matter of fact, the PADs on the used market at the time were less than the KS's, which were not available used. Thanks.
Purist or Kubala-which to buy for entire system I did a comparison in my home between the PAD Dominus B and Kubala Emotion interconnects and found the PADs a bit colored in the lower midrange, slighty syrupy, a little overdone for my tastes. The PADs also had an extremely deep, solid bass (grea... |
