Best Integrated Amp for the money
For how much money? Each price range has it's best integrated amp.
Where does your user name come from?
When I listen to soothing classical music, I close my eyes and think of enchanting natural settings like the redwood forests of California. This is very much like ET's ride at Universal Studios in Florida. If you have ever walked along that dark p...
Can speakers be both "big" and "accurate" ?
My room is the same size as yours 14x18,and I am firing the speakers down the long end as well. My speakers are arguably the best speakers...period! They are very large, very accuate, and very detailed. They are the most efficient speakers with a ...
Subwoofer slam vs boom
BOOM can be caused by room acousic problems. I have Khorns with isolated reinforced corner walls made from two inch thick very dense fiberboard. When you hit it with your closed hand, it creates a solid sounding THUD, not a BOOM. As a result of th...
rc 1 resilient channel used in room
R25 insulation will virtually eliminate all midrange and treble frequencies. Attenuating bass frequencies is a whole different ball game. Bass frequencies can set your drywall into a resonant rampage. Since wooden studs are connected to the drywal...
The Biggest Disappointments in Rock and Roll
To me the biggest disappointment in rock and roll was that the best times of that era had inferior recording technology. It didn't matter that recording technology was invented after the classical period. Classical music remains, and recordings of...
Best performances of Handel's "Water music"?
The Pinnock/English Concert on Archiv is the best by far. Not only is it the best performance, but it's the best recording too. This piece inspired me to go to England and travel up the Thames River by boat just as was done almost three hundred ye...
What brand outlet for dedicated lines?
Albert, I need three cryo'd Hubbell's. By the way what is the count now, and have you decided on another cut off date or is it too soon for that? Finally, will the cost be the same as last time?
Virtually lost, a minimalist cries out for "help."
I agree with Mahandave. Where else can you get the world's best resistors in a remote controlled, 120+ stepped passive preamp for $1000. This is the way to go if you have efficient speakers.
Tube traps
Rives, your company makes the PARC room correction processor. Would it not be better to be proactive and prevent the room resonance in the first place with a room correction processor. The problem that I see with tube traps is that they not only a...
Is an eight sided oval room acoustically correct?
Joeb, thanks for the info on psaudio. It looks like I can build those four 3.5 foot "walls" in each corner of the room and construct a bass trap as well. Great idea!Rives, thanks for all your help at your "listening room" website above. It's great...
grainy sounding high end system
Dunlavy went out of business in November, 2000. That's not a good sign. The Pioneer CD player sounds like your weakest link. If you compare yours to a Mark Levinson CD player, the graininess of the Pioneer CD player will be obvious
Where should my equipment rack go?
My vote is directly between the speakers against the front wall. This will assure the shortest possible distance for your speaker wire and interconnects. Put your money into the quality of cables, not their length. This position will also avoid ba...
Are floating walls and ceilings THAT important?
All answers for this topic can be found using search. Type in: ASC iso-wall system. Happy reading.
Review: Klipsch Klipschorn Speaker
As the saying goes: trash in... trash out! Of course K-Horns can sound bad if you have inferior equipment driving the speakers. K-Horns are probably the most honest speakers on the market. On the other hand, reference equipment, a well tuned room,...
