Is $18,000 enough for a high end HT?
It is possible to have a high end HT for $18,000, but you are going to have to work hard to do it. First you have to educate yourself on the equipment out there so you can get the best bang for your buck. Asking questions at this forum is a good s...
Dedicated lines/surge protectors?
Wdi, I have the surge protection box that looks like a circuit breaker box, but with circuit boards instead. There are no receptacles, only terminal screws to hook up wiring that goes out to the receptacles.
So what sub are you using for your Home theater?
If you want the deepest, lowest, non boomy fast bass with realistic stereo sound then look into the TacT W410 corner subwoofer. This is the best of the best, but it has no amplifier (I'm using a pair of Bryston 7B-ST amps), and it has no crossover...
Where does one obtain lead shot to fill stands
How about using BB gun ammunition? Isn't that made of copper?
Dedicated lines/surge protectors?
Hi Joe. It's true that power companies will rent you a whole house surge protector, and provide $10,000 for damages. But what if your system is worth more than that? Silly question at this forum. I would recommend a surge protector from a reputabl...
Which speaker should be on top?
You're right about taking the false corner to the ceiling. In this way both the K-horn and the TacT sub will have three reflective sides. The K-horn will have the two false walls and the floor, while the sub will have the two false walls and the c...
Which speaker should be on top?
Thanks Rives. What else do you need to know about the room?In general the room dimension is 8/13/17 feet. The room has the ASC isowall acoustic system.
Klipsch love them or hate them.
foreverhifi2000....so you are hoping that Klipsch will produce an uncolored, unrefined sounding speaker. I hate to burst your bubble, but you have been selling them for years and you didn't know it. The Klipschorn and it's Heritage cousins are wha...
Why MDF so Bad???
The Sonus Faber Mahler Speaker made with Brazillian Rosewood is beautiful. There is no question about that. Some people with lots of money and good taste prefer speakers made with pure wood. If solid wood is thick enough, it could approach the son...
Why MDF so Bad???
Violins are made of solid wood to provide their own beautiful unique overtones. The purpose of speakers is to provide NO ADDED OVTERTONES, but rather to reproduce sound as recorded and NOTHING ELSE. HDF does not sound harsh; it sounds like hitting...
Separate ground for dedicated line
Subaruguru, thanks for your help. I have two Mark Levinson 334 dual mono blocks, and one Bryston 7BST single mono block for the sub. I'm afraid that all of these amps can draw mucho amps when taxed. I have one 20 amp circuit for the Bryston and th...
Separate ground for dedicated line
I spoke to an electrical engineer who said that both dedicated lines as well as dedicated grounds can cause ground loop noise even if everything is grounded to one common utility ground poll. He recommended having as many stereo units on one line ...
Trying to build a near ref. listening room? Help
Your room almost has perfect dimensions according to the Golden Ratio developed by Fibonacci. This is a series of numbers which avoids resonance problems in the room. The ratio is 1:1.618. If the dimensions of your room start with 9 feet, then the...
Why MDF so Bad???
Try using very dense fiber board instead of medium dense fiber board. I'm not sure about the name of this material, but it's used in making kitchen counter tops. You can get it at Home Depot with white formica laminated on both sides, and in a var...
What's your High End best buy/unknown components?
The Placette Passive Preamp is the best sounding preamp that I have heard regardless of price. The volume control uses nothing but the best resistors available anywhere. Most systems that have efficient speakers need only a passive preamp anyway. ...
