Tell me about NAIM And, by the way, I don't like Naim gear much. Exagerated upper bass and a fatiguing etched sound where images have no palpability let alone depth, are my main concerns. Don't mean to trash the stuff, just point out the qualities I don't care for. ...
Tell me about NAIM Cornfedboy, I sympathise with your bewilderment about the question, and find Casaross' post a little Jingoist and certainly simplistic, but no worse than my posts, for example. None of us have the time, space or audience to go much beyond generali...
VooDoo Power Cords...What s the verdict? I would just like to echo Garfish's point. The Master Couplers may not be "cable of the month" but in my experience they have a particular (almost said unique) way about them that connects you to the music. I recently came across a power cable tha...
What Type Brand of ST Glass Digital Cable? I have tried several of the cheap variety, but an Audioquest Optilink Pro 2 made mince-meat of them (the Pro 1 is not bad either). Even though the fibre diameters were the same the Audioquest had a far more natural presentation - the standard Siec...
DH cones Try Final Daruma Bearings first. They caused me to put my DH Cones Super Cones back in the cupboard.
120Volts to 220Volts? The Arcam is designed in the UK (where the power is 230 Volts 50Hz) and it is highly unlikely they ordered a separate run of transformers for US sales. It is therefore very likely that there is a simple switch inside for switching to 230V. If anyt...
Toobs + SS = x That's OK Ux4, and any comments made here will always be out of context - as Dekay indicates, what works in one context can never be assumed to be a universal rule. But if you take that view too far, we would be afraid to post any opinions at all ...
Toobs + SS = x Oops. Now what have I done? I like valve power amps because every solid state amp I have heard suffers from being either lifeless or some nasties in the upper mids. I have also heard some lovely tube preamps, yet prefer the Placette Pre to all of ...
Placette Passive Pre I agree too. The active Placette does the preamp job with out any significant coloration (just a touch of added sparkle). The passive version is lovely, and fantastic at the price, but I find passives (even the Placette) still don't quite make it....
Interesting reading for ESL owners I suggest that if you connect two interconnects at the same time to the CD output, it should not be a surprise if they sound similar when switching between them at the preamp. You just need to think about the circuit you have created. Secondly, sh...
Anybody into Ben Harper? I like Ben's first two best. "Welcome to the Cruel World" and "Fight for Your Mind". The remainder have much less soul and therefore do less for me. I hope he returns to his earlier style one day.
"Pace", it's importance for enjoyment? Coming from you, that's a compliment Snook.
Tweak Reviews From Soundstage Thanks Megasam. I have bought two sets of Aurios and will let you know how I get on (they will probably arrive next week).
brulee fails PC challenge Wooooaaaah!!! In a (probably vain) attempt to avoid the impending melt-down of this post, I will try to rapidly to engage Brulee back to the point of his post. The only way to test any component is to live with it for a month and reflect on how mu...
