Anyone have or heard the Whest PS.20 Couple of issues that I have with this stage. The MC gain is fixed at approx. 72db. And signal is amplified down to 5HZ, there is no subsonic filter. So if you have a cartridge that puts out above say .3mv, the gain is too high. Anyone that is usi...
New Cary CD player303/300 w/ tubes FWIW, this machine has a very long break-in time. Like 400+ hours, so don't go too crazy trying to dial things in. I'm using a solid state amp, so was able to hear all the wild changes it went thru. And I advise that you do use the supplied 18g po...
Looking for opinion, Cary 303/300, thinking about I heard the Lector Tube player at the show last year and that certainly had extended highs. So did the modified Sony- don't know which one it was. But I thought the bass was tubby on the Lector. The Meridian GO-8 to my ears sounded more extended o...
Looking for opinion, Cary 303/300, thinking about I forgot that I also owned the DV-50----how could I forget??? MDP:Anyway, I find almost all cd players sound closed in on top. That is my main problem with them. The only recent cd players that I found to actually sound extended on top to the poin...
Looking for opinion, Cary 303/300, thinking about A cd player is never a "good investment", especially if you buy one based on others opinions. All high-end machines have their own unique sound. I own the Cary and have owned ARC, Classe, Wadia, Naim, Rotel, Marantz and heard dozens of others. The...
New Cary CD player303/300 w/ tubes I own this player. The only way I was able to replicate the "arc/previous on right" was to purposely reverse polarity on one channel. Not saying the dealer had a "flawed" demo, but it wouldn't surprise me. Anyway, I basically agree with your comme...
ARC Reference 2 MkII Preamp white noise levels The ARC uses tubes in the power supply, the Bat is SS power supply. There is your answer.
Marantz SA-11S1 and transport noise. Flimsy draws and transport noise is the norm these days for most any high-end machine.
SACD Player vs. CD Player in CD reproductions I have never heard any two high-end cd players that sounded alike in any way. They all have their own unique sound.
benz ref 2 or sumiko celebration Raul: What is your opinion of the Transfiguration Temper W as compared to the Benz LP.
benz ref 2 or sumiko celebration Well, having sold a Benz Ruby "3" and also a Shelter 901. I am looking for a new cartridge. Problem is how can I hear a Celebration before buying. Neither the Benz or Shelter (both opposites IMO) worked for me. One guy I know is pushing me to buy ...
benz ref 2 or sumiko celebration Sherber, does the Celebration produce a more transparent sound than your Benz. And are the highs open clear and extended. I find the Benz cartridges lean towards bass power and rolled off highs. Something between a Benz and the Japenese "house" so...
Audioquest Volcano vs Mont Blanc I had the Mont Blanc and also found it uninvolving. Now I am using Synergistic Research Resolution Reference X2 and have no plans to change.
New Cary CD player303/300 w/ tubes The player accepts all types of 12 volt tubes. You want a rich/full sound that rounds the highs>>>12BH7 tubes.
I damanged my Shelter cartridge, next steps?.... Just take some toothpicks and straighten the stylus out already. If you fail then deal with that issue. Your records are too valuable IMO. |
