What's the deal with the Machina Dynamica Clock? Here's the report of the test I did for our newsletter. paypal phishing There have been a lot of them coming out lately, both for Paypal and Ebay. I'm getting one or two a day. A lot of different variations on the theme, including one where a seller at an auction is trying to contact you. Be very suspicious of anythin...
Can the Vendetta be updated? If John is anything like he used to be, it could take a long time for you to get your Vendetta back if you send it for an upgrade. You cannot rush genius. You should discuss a timetable with him as well. Great phono stage, by the way. Well ahead o...
Organ CDs with really deep bass Marty, that is a good one, I've got it too. Marshall is excellent, and the Liszt is a good showpiece for deep bass.
Thinking outside the bean I think you'd get better, more full-bodied flavor if you used one of the Purist Dominus power cords, myself. That's been my experience, anyway. DISCLAIMER--I am not a Purist dealer.

Do speakers have to "warm-up" too? Beavis, perhaps, but remember, in the post french_fries says he lets his amps run for 30 minutes before putting any signal through them. Now Perfectionist has the right idea when it comes to listening enjoyment!
Do speakers have to "warm-up" too? You're not crazy, I've noticed this too. I believe you're right, the voice coils do need to warm up, or at least something like that (the designer of my speakers told me something to that effect).
What is the lowest LOMC you guys know of??? The lowest I had was the original Transfiguration cartridge, which was somewhere south of .15mv or something like that (did I get the decimal in the right place?). That was a notoriously low-output cartridge. Don't know among current offerings.

Soaking in pause mode improves CD transport snd? It is a real phenomenon, sometimes called "jogging" the laser. You can do it quickly, as Pbowne mentioned. Check the Magnan website, they have a short discussion of this and other tweaks.
SACD is it worth it? I agree with Kal, though my feeling is that if you listen principally to pop the SACD option might be rarely used and therefor might be an unnecessary expense (classical is, fortunately for me, another story). A player like the new Cary SACD playe... |
